The lie was the statement: "you and a few other critics are the only people I've heard use the phrase 'immediate threat'.  I didn't.  The President didn't."

He was caught in the lie when they posted this statement by Rumsfeld: "No terror state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people and the stability of the world than the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq."

If you are concerned that the moveon segment was cut, then read the full transcripts:

Basically, they let him off rather than grilling him further.  They had embarassed him sufficiently.

Kerry and his diatribes against his opponent are empowering the pro saddam iraqi resisitance and resulting in more Useless violance against iraqi civilians, foreign aid workers and allied militaries.  Useless that is, unless he is elected president and performes a disasterous premature withdraw of military forces from an unstable iraq, which he appears to be headed towards doing in the unfortunate event he does become president.

Yeager,
How can Kerry do that when Bush has already stated hes' pulling the troops out in June?? Are you choosing to blame Kerry for the Iraqi situation already? My gawd man.. Hes not in office yet..

Nothing that happens in Iraqi is Bush's fault.. Why I tell you, had I painted my kitchen that other color America would prolly be outta Iraqi already..

So the entire Liberal election campaign hinges on whether or not someone said a single word?

Not just a single word...

This is just Rumsfeld's most recent lie and it was one that were he was busted red handed.  Just like Clinton, Rummy has been used to obfuscating with impunity...he just didn't get away with it this time.
