Any chance of an hourly rate?
« on: February 28, 2000, 04:33:00 AM »
Now, before you all jump on me, please let me explain

I'm currently working away from home with no access to a game computer during the evenings. So I have only time to fly during the weekends and you can imagine that my wife wants her part, too.

Currently I'm flying WB at an average of 2 hours per weekend (overdid it a bit yesterday but hey, it was the first time since two weeks   ).

I did participate in the AH open beta and am very interested in opening an account here. But for my usage, the flat rate (as much as I love flat rates) is to high.

So my question is is it possible to have the iEN pricing scheme over here as alternative to the flat rate? Or some reduced "weekend-only" flat rate account (I think in the direction of $15)? If not, that's fine with me, I'm not whining - just asking questions

Dancer out.

Hiya Dancer!  Miss ya online, dude!

I think this would make business sense for AH to allow several different 'packages' across the board for membership.  Hope they can work something out.

Yo dancer!
Sure would like to have you on board as well!A weekend package seems to make sense to me, allthough I'll stick to the full deal - just so that I can have my fix when needed.

I'd be all for a weekend rate as well.  I never get to fly online during the week.  However, AH is so great that I miss it on the weekends.

I too would like a mix of hourly and flat rate choices.

My personal wish would have $2 an hour up to a total bill of $30, then free after that.

RE: Pricing schemes...
Sounds like a mighty fine suggestion to maybe increase our numbers in the asia/pacific timezone!

Sorry guys but I would say its a big NO, I have asked and asked for this over the free beta period and would have signed up right away if the billing options had offerd more of a choice. I too would have been flying the asia/pacific time frame and the reason I wanted some billing choices was due to the exchange rates here in NZ against the US Dollar. But like I said, all my pleading meet with lots of resistance from HT and this
Forum.  .

I can understand your guys situations and have been in many of the same myself, and I can certainly sympathize.

But the whole reason a flat rate pricing scheme works is that people that fly less, subsidize those that fly more often. So that the company providing those services recover the costs overall of the "average" user.

Verm..

I suspect you're right, but still I think there's 3 groups here worth considering:

1. those who'll fly lots will do so anyway dispite whatever pricing scheme

2. those who don't have much time to play and

3. the non-us/european players who can't/won't play much coz of low numbers

There's no doubt all three groups love the game, but at the moment I fear we're all clumped into the first group.  I'd say I'm in the third category and re-evaluating my $100au(including ISP).

Like I've said in another post, the asia/pacific timezone has always had low numbers, even with WB. Maybe HTC can change that or at least improve it.

I love the game, but if it's not much fun I'd have to re-evaluate...My money would be well spent on my other RL expenses.

(note: this post is not to say I can't afford it..I'd like others to afford it too so I can have fun playing during my timezone)

We have no plans for a lower usage price plan.

There you go I told you it would be NO HT doesnt want to offer any other payment options, this I feel myself is not a very flexible buisness decision/plan on HT's part but then it is his game and if he doesnt want more people playing it he will end up with less revenue than he could be getting.

I dont meen to knock HT but really its like he has his head stuck in the sand somewhere.

The pricing system works, it is not going to change anytime soon. I hope to god they get a discount for long term prepaid accounts before they bother (if ever) worrying about any hourly rate packages.
