Forgotten Battles Add Ons
« on: March 22, 2004, 06:31:58 AM »
There are a few add ons popping up for this game. Theres Just Flight's Battle Over Europe. I bought one called Combat Over Europe by mistake (GMX). Apparently it's crap so I havn't loaded it.

Then theres the new Maddox add on just released. What does it do that the Just Flight one doesn't? Which is worth buying?

I like flying quick missions in this game.  I havn't the time to plod through a pilot career, it's just too slow. I want a load of individual missions like the old CFS used to have.

Err, I believe most of the things you listed were for Flight Simulator 2004...

There's only Il2, Il2:FB, and IL2:FB:AEP.

there are non-official add ons available. BOE is set over normandy but doesnt include new airplanes yet. it runs on the normal il2 fb install.

supposedly they are gonna patch it for those who have AEP so the new planes are enabled

havent heard of that other one you mentioned tho

Wrong. Battle over Europe is for Il2:FB - my brother has it. It is a third party add-on.

Dowding, the person before you already showed that I was wrong.  So Instead of showing me where, you just add on that I was wrong without contributing to the discussion at all.

Where can I find these add ons?

When I started my reply, moose hadn't posted.

BOE is made by a UK company. They might not distribute in the US.

Those aren't add-ons they are "mission packs". All you end buying is missions and skins.

The only FB add-on is AEP.

And just to clarify AEP updates FB to version 2.0. Upcoming FB patches will be on top of version 2.0: i.e. in order to keep patching FB you will need AEP.
AEP ads 20 or so new flyables (it claims more but some of them were availabe from version 1.22). There should be more flyable aircraft in the next patch.

Does anyone have a good source for new campaigns involving the US or Britain for AEP? Also I have played around with the mission builder since the original IL-2 and last night I was LBS (lost bigger 'n **it) trying to figure it out.

BOE has new campaigns for the US atleast, but does not include any of the planes that came in AEP - just the ones in FB 1.22, but its costs some outrageous amount for just some missions and skins.

In this thread http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=98;t=008528

someone offers a few of his completed missions from a campaign he is building. You have to email him to get them though. Other than that, I'd say wait a month or so... AEP just came out. Theres also Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator... http://members.shaw.ca/lowengrin/index.html

It seems he has it updated to include AEP.

Thanks for pointing me back toward Lowengrins DCG site. I remember using it back in IL-2 but could not find it again when I started playing FB a few weeks back.
