RPM setting?

What does the RPM setting do exactly?  Is it a pitch setting?  It isnt a gauge or it would change with throttle so what is it?

Propeller RPM, adjust it (when mapped) to the KEYPAD + -.  When its implented you can vary the prop pitch/RPM to save gas (less bite) but will have to remember to put it full forward for combat (more bite more power but uses more gas)

Ok so it is prop pitch.  Will a lower prop pitch increase engine rpm and allow for faster climbouts and more pitch should allow for faster top speed right?

The idea is that the prop pitch autoregulates to keep engine rpm constant.

Aka constant speed propeller.

With engine running at constant (best) rpm wear and tear is reduced.

Of course you have different rpms for best power and best economy.

Engine horsepower is affected by both RPM and MAP.  Maximum RPM and maximum MAP produce maximum horsepower (and maximum fuel consumption).  Low RPM and fairly high MAP produced the best fuel economy.

Some typical engine ratings follow:

This is not implemented yet, so you should just leave the rpm maxed.  We'll implement it soon and you will be able to configure your rpm settings to match your MP for max fuel efficiency.  If you like to fly around with max power all the time, then it really won't matter to you.  But if you want to squeeze long endurance out of your flights, this will help immensely.

Will you be implementing Engine Temperature Control? CRP time limitions? Power settings vs IAS for climb, cruise, etc.? Turbo settings?

Neg to those except for power settings.  The bonus to using correct power settings will be in increased endurance.  That's about as detailed as we'll get with the engine modeling.

just another thing on the RPM's ... well power does not necessary mean high RPM .. at fast speeds you have to reduce RPM to attain maximum thrust. (try shoving a prop to high RPM in cruise and you'll be hanging in your safety straps  

you gonna implement that or is it just:
MAX MAP = MAX RPM = MAX POWER = MAX SPEED?
