In this age of Photoshop, can you give any citation as to the source of the photo?

Photoshop. Zoom and check the alignment and depth of the text on the cardboard, relative to the "NY" and heart.

I guess some people want to hate others so much that they invent stuff to hate them for.
You can often see it on this BBS when someone says "Now I bet the left/right wingers will come and say/do [something, something]"

Are we 100% sure this is photoshop?

It looks like it is...I mean how many Hippies would bother to paint the "R" for "Restricted".

Looks like a fake, but if it ain't, I wish I could have been there.

If you actually go to the website of the person that took these pictures, it includes many others just like it as well as video footage.

You sure?!? I would have thought this'd be another job for your magic website. ;)

Nope.  It's not magic, though, it's code.  I can see how you wouldn't understand that.   I'm guessing you get excited by the old "I've got your nose" gag, too.

Now I bet the left wingers come and claim it was Photoshop'd!

And I bet the right wingers will slant it in the news!

This just in to our newsroom!

Woman Defends Peace Protest
by Stephen Glass, New Republic editor

CALIFORNIA - A new revolution is sweeping this state and it is being attributed to one woman with a simple message:

"I love New York; even more without the World Trade Center"

How could someone be so callous?  So uncaring? So un-American?

"Simple, honey.  That building was an eyesore on the skyline, you know?  One of the worst examples of architecture ever constructed.  Look at the Empire State Building.  Look at the Chrysler Building.  Now look at the World Trade Center.  Its, like, totally Blahsville.  Now maybe they'll turn the land into something for the people, like a cherry orchard where people can sit lazily in the shade during the Summer and write poetry."

When pressed for details, the woman simply said, "Hey, quit hassling me, man.  Be beautiful, you know?  You're way too tense. Open your mind and be free, you know?  Embrace the sunshine."

In Business News, Adobe Systems reported skyrocketing sales of its popular Photoshop product.

New York Times reporter Jayson Blair contributed to this report.

No, it's just the photos looked about as authentic - and it's got that telltale handwritten every character different typeface - so I figured (perhaps this was inspired by that avatar) that you might go with a "let's be consistently dumb" theme.

I realize you rely heavily on my opinion before you publicly make a statement, but here's a suggestion.  Why don't you go look at all the pictures yourself, then watch the two videos, then come back and make your OWN informed decision instead of a dumb crack founded in ignorance.

Just a thought.
