Isolating Voice Comms
« on: March 23, 2004, 03:27:47 PM »
Greetings.

After reading a couple of threads on one of the gaming news groups I frequent I got to wondering about isolating the voice comms so they are the only thing I hear in my headphones.

One option is using a USB headset which I do not have have.  Another option was using a second soundcard which I happen to have on my storage shelf.

My question is; is this at all feasible.  Would it be possible to install my old Santa Cruz card and set up AH to send the voice to that card and only the voice to that card?

Thanks,
Skeksis

You can always do this in AH by turning down all other sounds to zero. Question is, why would you want to hear only voice? Even stuff like FPS sounds help wth enemy detection.

I realize that I can turn down the other sounds but that is not what I am trying to achieve because it will interfere with the audio 'clues' that AH provides.  My ultimate goal is to have the ambient sounds playing in the main speakers and only the voice comms playing in the headset to make it easier to understand what the other person is saying with out sacrificing the rest of the sounds.

There is a slider in the voice section of the game you can turn up, which basicly turns down the other sounds when someone is transmitting a vox comm. I'm not sure if thats what you're looking for.

Yeah, that was the idea but if it isn't possible I will just force myself to continue to enjoy AH as I have done in the past.  ;)
