Voice volume issue

Hey guys, I have a problem with my transmit volume. Usually it occurs like this: I log in, when I transmit my volume is fine for everyone else to hear. Then after about 1-2 minutes my volume (my speech heard by others) takes a massive nose dive and I have to yell into the mic for them to hear me. The volume that I hear never changes and stays just fine. This problem just started cropping up within the last 2 or 3 months and I have been unable to chase it's cause down. My system spec.s are as follows:
Dell p41.8g
256 mb ram
soundblaster live value sound card (drivers from creative 6/26/02 which are the latest I can find)
Any suggestions would be outstanding. I have bought a new mic in last couple days no luck. I have also removed and reseated my soundcard...no luck.

Check the Windows sound control panel and see if the 20dB mic boost is toggling off.
If you have other applications running in the background that use sound, they could be toggling it.

The 20 db boost is on. I use the enditall program so I have nothing in background except stuff needed to keep windows running (I used the guide you and others have posted for neccessary things).

Zaphod, try toggling the 20dB boost and see if it clears up.

I have a problem similar to that.
Sometimes, when I log in some people can't hear me.
I end up either toggling that wave in box for people to hear me. Sometimes it has to be on, sometimes it has to be off.
It's weird, I have an Audigy 2 plat.

ZAP if you are using winXP there's a newer driver (2003) that I put in my old machine to fix the very same problem you are having. It is located at Soundblaster.com and you can get to it by following the menus

Skuzzy toggling the decible boost seemed to fix the problem when it cropped up last night.
Sno, I'll go looking for that newer driver....
Thanks guys
