Great Night of Gaming AH AND WWIIOL
« on: March 24, 2004, 04:52:14 PM »
Last night was one of my better nights for gaming..

Logged onto WWIIOL at about 8:30 EST and found a battle pretty fast. Actually, there was no battle.

I was a lone soldier walking through a cornfield. Suddenly in the distance, I could hear a vehicle approaching. I went prone and readied my weapon. After several tense moments, some type of open topped armored car rolled up. I was not detected yet.

I belly crawled closer, and drew a grenade. Pulling the pin, I lobbed it at the truck, only to have it explode, not far from it. The vehicle gunner, stunned by the explosion, gathered himself quickly and started panning, looking for me. I lobbed a second grenade, and missed again. Now the vehicle went on the move, driving toward the cornfield, seeking me out. He passed within 1 meter of where I lay. Having no shot, I did not fire and give up my position. He drove off, leaving a stalmate.

The second mission, I was riding in a 251 with 3 other soldiers. As we neared the front, and explosion threw me out of the truck. I survived along with one other guy. I quickly ran to a hedgerow and hid the best I could. After a few minutes, 2 british soldiers came toward the wreckage. I squeezed off a few rounds from my concealed position and killed them both.

Having had my fill of ground warfare, I switched over the AH where the MAW organized a B-17 raid. We destroyed the FH's at 74 and 75 in a single pass, leaving on FH up at 74 for the furballers.

All in all, a great night of gaming.

alas, if only that frenchie didn't launch that RG into my 251 engine, I would have used my mg42 to give cover fire, and I think the soldier that died's body would have been somewhere other than 10 feet in the air...

MG34 ;)

SdKfz 251 is one of my favorite vehicles... too bad the silly rats made it RDP.
Think I'll voice my opinion by unsubscribing till I get to see the 251 again.

I agree, Muck. My Friday nights consist now of the WWIIOL/AH double bill. Playing both has enhanced my enjoyment of both sims. They compliment each other rather well.
