O'Franken Factor - Left Wing radio
« on: March 31, 2004, 01:16:13 PM »
Gave this new show a listen via internet radio since their affiliate list (6 stations nationwide) is so small.

Wow, what a horrible show.  Al Franken is just awful as a radio host.  His delivery is so slow and un-dynamic that it becomes difficult to listen to.  " I ahhmmm, am calling myelf O'Franken.  Thats, ahhh, my ......  radio .....   persona."

I give to two weeks.

Agreed.  I listened for about 15 minutes before deciding that it was boring and retarded.  I hoped it would be better and more original than all the righty radio shows, but no, it sucks just as bad.

It will last longer than 2 weeks simply because it is being subsidized by a bunch of limosine liberals.   Only when they are sure they can't get enough listeners to interest advertisers will they pull the show.

Al is not new nor is he likely to do any better.

He has always talked very slow so it's not going to get much better.

That's what made his "Stewart Smiley" self-help character so entertaining.  We knew how much Al sucked and needed his own self-help.

Today was his first time hosting a radio show...he'll get better at it.

I listened to the first 3 hours of it. He had G. Gordon Liddy call in from his own talk show, seems that Al and the G man are good friends...go figure :) Ben Stein called in also, another of his friends wishing him good luck.

Bob Kerry was the featured guest, he had some good info regarding the 911 commission, if you didn't listen then you'll be suprised at the questions when Condi testifies.

The anti-rush show didn't happen today since Rush was probably too high to make it to the studios. Can't wait for the launch of that feature. :0

All in all, Al's show was a bit slow but the content was outstanding...I'll be listening more in the future.

Randi Rhodes up now, she's killing them today :)

I enjoy franken but that sucks.

he does better as a writer, or in a scripted bit where he has more time to think about what he's saying.

I did catch a funny bit where he was promoting the show (letterman I think).

he agreed that he's trying to provoke o'reilly.  he's insisting o'reilly call him o'franken.  and until he does he's only refering to him as reilly.

That O'Reilly/O'Franken thing is a good example of why he has never amused me, esp. his Sat Live bit.  He is just annoying, to the point where it is painful to watch/listen.  Satire should involve wit, and his does, but it is just very dim.

I did'nt hear it, but I'm sure it's painful to listen to. I really like Al Franken's political views, but his delivery is distressingly dry and always has been. At least when you watch him on TV you see his facial expressions and can understand the joke.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
