hooli... I shoot wolf in the 91 of my brothers and it doesn't seem to kick any more than his 760 pump ought six.   but I agree... if you want more power with less kick.... get a Garrand.   The person who gets hurt will at least be on the other end of the gun.

You want this one: http://www.interordnance.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=INTERORDNANCE.com&Product_Code=MOSI1003-LAM

BTW, you can get a decent garand for 750 bucks minimum.  If it's below that there's something wrong with it.

Ok,

First off I want a bolt action rifle.

Second, I want it to be WWII>

Third, I want it to be Russian or German, cause I can't afford an M1carbine. I got to buy a $500.00 gun already for Civil War Re-enacting.

Fourth, I want it to be cheap enough for a birthday present.

My dad knows a guy at work that is very experinced with guns.

I'll talk to my dad to see if he's got any Ideas or is willing to help my dad buy a rifle.

I have no experience what so ever with weapons...

So any and all advice is welcome.

If those are your only criteria, don't forget about 1903 Springfields and Lee-Enfields.

The prices on that site are high.  An unissued 98K will run you between $79 and $200 depending on nation and date of manufacture.

79 dollars?  Are you sure?  I've never seen a decent K98 of any make below 155.  And that was because the dude was getting a divorce and had to sell some guns quick.

But Hawklore, a few posts up I gave you a link.  That's the gun you want.

It all depends if my parents are willing to pay for it, if they are I'm gonna go with the Kar98k.

I'm gonna prolly end up doing living history for the eastern front.
And if I grab a Kar98k I can still use that, cause it could of been stolen.

But I'm getting told not to buy online.

I'm gonna check to see when the most recen gunshow is gonna be, also gonna have my dad talk to a guy at work that knows alot about guns, see if he would be willing to go to the candy store with it as my mom put it.

And then hopefully he will teach me to shoot it.

but you mite be able to afford a 1903 bolt action springfield,,,found them very cheap before,,but i think those guns are up and coming in price soon,,if there not all chopped up and sportsterized,,lol,,but you should be able to get a german mouser for a good price,,or a styer,,,the ones too keep a eye out for are the one with a nazi proof mark on them,,i seen them go from anywere from 200bucks too about 600<~~i got a nice little berreta bolt action 1943 gardon i would be willing to part with,,but i cant send anything like that threw the mail,,big trouble there,,lol

as for civil war guns,,now your talking:) wooo,,there fun,,nothing like a big puff of smoke and a lead bullet thats over  a ounce of lead,,,and accurate as hell,,only get one shot,,but very accurate,,,black powder are the most accurate fire arms in the world,,for one reason,,no shell cassing,,perfict smooth burn,,the centerfire black knight arms brag there black powders are more accurate than any bullet out there<~~and must be,,because its illegal to deer hunt in washington state with a centerfire black powder gun,,lol

i own a colt dragoon reissue,,and a colt walker repo,,the colt dragoon is worth about 900bucks now,,because colt stopped making black powders,,,the walker is about a 300 dollar gun now,,its made by uberta,,very powerfull,,think till the 1950's was the most powerfull hand gun out there,,the first magnum,,now my brother owns a repo springfield 1863 model,,been a heck of a gun,,,,,go to this link,, http://www.dixiegun.com/ they sell alot of civil war stuff,,plus!! its legal to ship black powder guns threw the mail:) so you can order your repo springfield,,or enfield threw them with out any proublems
