Simple guys.  The Saleen folks are there to make money, and there's a lot of cash to be had in the low-end ricer bracket. $25k and you get yourself a fast-n-furious'd Focus. For every person with the money to buy a proper high-performance automobile, or the time to work on his ride, there are 10 with neither money, time, nor really the interest.  They just want to get laid.
You folks will speak ill of Nitrous Oxide, but if all you want is to go a little faster in the 1/4 mile, and you don't have the cash to spend on real improvements, Lazs' "baby bottle" is the way to go. It's cheap, and it gives that performance boost when needed. Plus many of the kids think it's cool.
And styling like that reminds everyone that the owner is an idiot. On the road, I appreciate warnings like that.

I did this last ricer thread.  If you want to buy some sort of modded Focus, the only way to go is the $60k ATI Terminator Focus:

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/roadtests/0404scc_focus/

no wing, no styling, tiny exhaust pipe, 470 hp, at least when the engine isn't on fire. Needs 4 passengers and a case of beer to get in the twelves.

Oh, and heh, I saw a stock Evo-8 on the road the other day. Now that is an _ugly_ car.

There are three differences between the Focus and the Focus Cosworth:

1. Performance
2. Performance
and
3. Performance

There's more to cars then looks.  The Cosworth focus is lighter, faster, more maneuverable, has a better suspension, and the list goes on.  Check out Getaway in Stockholm 2, the camera car is a Ford Escort Cosworth putting out over 450hp and is, as the video demonstrates, more nimble then a ballerina on amphetamines as it zips through Stockholm.  The Focus Cosworth has the same engineering in it and more.

They didn't just bolt on some parts, it has a completely new suspension, frame, and more.  I'd say this has as much in common with the stock Focus as the Nascar Taurus has with the Taurus you can buy off the showroom floor.

Every ounce of excess weight has been removed that can while keeping it street legal.

Hello LAW.

I am familiar with the 3406 CAT's but not the 3408's. All I could find on the CAT website was the 3408's are in loaders and pipe layers. Couldn't find one in trucks. Couls you give me a little more background on the 3408? I know it is a V-8 engine but did not know they used it in OTR trucks.

Now to the Focus subject.....Is that the HP and torque ratings on or off the bottle?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I don't care what they did do it underneath.  It's butt smurfy, and unless it flies (or has the mentioned suitcase in the back), I'm not interested.  There are plenty of cars to choose from on the market, so it ain't much of a loss.

I miss typed it.
I was speaking of the 425 cat  or four and a quarter cat  inline 6 cyl
My last truck had that engine with the eaton 15spd tranny 270" wheelbase with stand up sleeper .
It was a 1984KW conventional no cab overs for this boy LOL.

I forgot what rearend gears I had I wanna say 333s but I might be wrong.
I do know loaded she would top out at
about 115mph.

And my focus has no bottle.

Just re mapped computer  borla exhaust and aem cold air intake.
Under drive pulleys and cam shaft.

Thanks LAW. I have rebuilt several 3406 and 3406E's but could not for the life of me figure out what a 3408 was doing in a truck. Thanks for the explanation.

LOL a factory car with nitrous. I wonder what that insurance premium is gonna be? Factory warranty? hehehe
The sad thing is that a stock Z-28 or a stock cobra stang will tear it a new one. :-)

Nothing like watchin the ricers at the local 1/4 mile track with tons of money tied up in a Honda getting decimated by stock z-28s and 'stangs. LOL!!
