Don't know if you're partial to Nikon, but if you are...and haven't purchased a digital cam yet, get the D70.....and this coming from a Canon user :)

Of course I like Nikon, I loved my CP5700.

LOL, yes I will love DSLR too, even more if you buy me a few extra len$$e$$$.. :)

Had a quick look over the review and its pretty much what I expected great camera with a bit of a moire problem. Looks like I will be picking up a D70 in June. :)

What types of photography do you enjoy taking?

After you get your D70, about the only pictures you'll be taking with your 5700 are of the D70 :D  .....

"For sale, one slightly used Nikon CP5700 in excellent condition" :)  
Naw, J/K. Keep it as back up for your important photo ops.

Some lens recommendations:

Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8 ED-IF AF-S Zoom
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom
Nikon 200-400mm f/4.0 VR AF-S

Those 3 lenses will cover about 95% of your needs. The incredible sharpness and autofocus speeds will blow you away. Expensive? You bet and worth every penny.

I sure wish Canon offered a 200-400m f/4.0L IS USM!

Unfortunately the 5700 is RIP, it took fall and nikon couldnt fix it. :(

Well for the D70 I'd want a macro lens for photographing models. Beyond that I'll see where the standard kit lens becomes a problem, as money will be tight.

Sorry to hear about the 5700.
No need to get those lenses right away. They'll be just as good anytime in the future. Great thing about quality glass, never gets old. Oh, you'll find the kit lens very acceptable for most of your shots (don't know how it does in macro though).
The first few shots from the D70 will make you forget about the 5700 :)

The 5700 was nice and the pictures were really good, even for some bigger prints, it was my first digam and I liked it a lot. The big zoom lens was awesome and very conveniant as was the cameras small size and light weight.

But the camera was slow in every sense of the word particularly AF and writespeed, plus low light AF was very spotty.

So on to the D70... :)

Heh, tried one at a local retailer last week ... the thing is FAST! I just have to keep all that Real World and Responsability things away from my mind for just a week, until more 17-80 kits ar available... just a week...

$1,300 for body and lens kit.  

Maybe I'll stick with my 35mm Pentax a bit longer.

For the money, I really am impressed with my 1.5 year-old Canon S45. Maybe someday when I can afford it I'll upgrade to DSLR.

Went into the store today and the Nikon field rep was there. Nice camera and i was a little concerned aboot the plastic body and how a 400 ml  lens would hang off of it. Needless to say i bought one today but can't pick it up for a few days tho.:(

Congrats!!!
Don't worry about the polymer body. If you do something to break it, I'd doubt a metal bodied camera would survive the same. Any camera trying to support a heavy lens will most likely ruin the lens mount on the camera. Get an extra strap for the lens as well if you're inclined to travel with it mounted.

Hmmm, I'll need more info on the types of macro and wildlife you'll want to take. If taking birds in flight or dangerous game at distance, min 400mm (even more in cases requiring a 1.4X or 2.0x teleconverter). Cant take macroes with that lens. What will your macro subjects be and what distances?
