When attempting 4 point roll at 180 knots in an RV. And on the first knife edge after the 90 deg roll if you stomp rudder very quickly . Your head meets the canopy realy hard.

So how tall were you before the incident, and after?

Which of the RV's are aerobatic?  I know the 8...what about the 9?  Couple guys here are putting the finishing touches on their 9 and want to take me up.  Just wondering how "fun" it could be

RV9 & 10 are not.

No didn't hurt, but scared crap out of me. One of those things you say, lets not do that again.

A 4-point roll at 180 KIAS?? You gotta be kidding me!!

In the Pitts or the Z-50, maneouvering speed is around 250 kph and those are sturdy birds. Doing sharp movements such as those required in a 4-point roll in a RV8 is insane (lots of stress on the airframe).

Please tell me those were kph...

KIAS = Knots Indicated Air Speed
Much faster than kph.

A helmet would only have cracked the canopy.  :p

Never wear a baseball cap with a button at the top when doing acro either or when you have little head room between you and the canopy top...those buttons hurt like a muther...and will also crack the canopy. :aok

Same thing happened to me in a Pitts only I was wearing a helmet and didn't feel it. But I wrenched my shoulder and was in pain for weeks afterward. :(  I wasn't flying it at that point so was taken by surprise.  Took him by surprise though, when I fell out of a roll into a spin.

Aerobatics is like being beaten up sometimes, sore heads and pulled muscles. :lol

Sadly only flying boring old 172's and 150's lately. sigh!!!!

PERK THE RV8!!
