Windows Key

Can I disable it?

Specifically for certain programs (AH) where activation may cause adverse actions (diving into the ground).

yes you can.... i forget exactly how to do it via Microsoft way, but there are several other tweak programs that will allow you to do it...

I use tweak manager from http://www.winguides.com, you can do a google on windows tweaks...

let me see if i can find teh registry data based on my tweak program....

here's the page with the reg data (as well as a suggestion to get winguide's tweaker - not needed tho if you're comfy futzing with your registry).

I have seen two cheap hardware fixes:

BulletHead ripps the windows keys out of the keyboard with a knife.

Grimm wedged paperclips under the keys so they could not be pressed.

Go to Accesibilty Options in Control Panal and check " Use Sticky Keys" this will make the Windows key work only if pressed 3 times, you can also set it to beep when pressed.

Yea, That key can be a bother.  I found this download to fix it...

Hardcore gamer or Terminal Services Client user? Then you certainly HATE THIS KEY! Yes, you hate this useful Windows Logo key. The key you use for opening Start menu in Windows.
Yes, Windows Logo key is absolutely handy way for opening Start menu. But not in the hot battle in Quake, Counter Strike or whatever game over network or when you are in full-screen session in Terminal Services client.
When you were fragged in the very important moment in the game and your team loses the round only because you accidentally press this key, you probably wanted to break you cool Natural keyboard!
The Terminal Session is absolutely real when you go full-screen. Guess which key do you press when you wanted to open Windows' Start menu in the session? We bet, you didn't press ALT+HOME combination, because you've got used to press Windows Logo key to do this operation!

Here is the site for the free download...
