Virus?  There are a couple of nasty ones going around.  Might even be a DOS attack as one of the virus's does not have to be on your computer to effect you.

go here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp  Its a free on-line virus scan. It will clean out most virus and trojins. Those it can't clean due to being tied into a running system, it will point you to a file you cane download and to clear it out with instructions.

I use it alot when my kids computer gets messed up, thats why they don't touch MY computer :p

After its done the scan, it will have a link to a pge that will help you clean up the viruses. I don't remember what it says...the link that is, but you should be able to find it on that page. Something like "help cleaning up you computer" or something. You'll download a couple of files, one being instructions . Follow the directions and it should run a program to clear your problems.

Good luck !

most likely its files that are running, that are started when windows starts. Another way to go about it is to check all the programs you have running, not sure how to do this in XP, but in WIN98 you ,, I've read mine so often I know which programs should be running on our computers. Post a list of running programs here, and maybe someone will know which to kill.

After I kill the programs that I can, I'll run the scan again. It should be able to clean more of the viruses out that way, because it won't delete a program thats running.

The tricky ones to get rid of are the ones that are running as the virus program cannot fix them while they are loaded.

Only way I know to correct that is to get the actual filename, and then use regedit to find that file in the registry.
Then remove it from the registry.  Reboot and run the virus scanner.  It should be able to either correct or remove the file then.

You never need to ask to call.  Just dial the number.
