The midway tiles were made in such a way that they can only be used in one arrangement to form the islands of that terrain. In other words each tile was a specific part of that small atoll and will only match edges with the tiles that were designed to be its neighbors much like a jigsaw puzzle. They would look awful if used in a regular terrain since most of the edges would not match in either content or color. It would take a good bit of work to make a regular tile set from these bits and pieces which isn't likely to happen with AH2 right around the corner. Sorry about that mate.
