Interesting bug concerning skins...
« on: April 14, 2004, 04:41:26 AM »
I've created a Bf109G-6 skin.

After a successful testing, I created the "bf109g6.txt" file, and returned to check if everything showed right.

Suddenly, all hell broke loose as the skin was ruined, sort of like one of those old cache issues. Naturally, I thought it had something to do with the cache files and deleted them... but to my dismay, it wasn't working.

I've tried a lot of things to figure out the source of the problem.. until I finally tried deleting the "bf109g6.txt" file. Hey! When the text file was gone, the skin works again!

So I tried a different, shorter skin description for the text file and finally, everything was alright.

 ...

The description I've wrote down when things went crazy, was:

 "9./JG52,1943,ErichHartmann"

After experiencing the skin problem, I changed it to

 "JG52,1943,ErichHartmann"

It seems the skin is somehow effected when the txt description file is too long.

Maybe it didn't like the period or the slash?

Might use a dash instead.
Easy in-game again.

yep the slash could have been interpreted as an excape sequence.
