You'll never convince us to convert to metric time!

It does suck.  Big time.  I grew up thinking in feet and inches, pounds and ounces, miles, gallons.......I bought sweets by the 1/4.......then all of a sudden the bloody government says we've gotta use metric.  Kids these days are taught in centi-bleedin'-meters, litres, kilo-bastard-grams.  All I have to remember is 27 grams is an ounce........

I blame the Germans.

Problem is you listen to the government. Gotta be more like us Yanks. We are a defiant lot. and we just refused to listen.

While metric is ued in some areas. Like the 2 liter bottle of Soda (pop for you johnny rebs) Though Cans are still measured in ounces.
Important things like Beer is also measured in ounces and quarts. Though most rednecks would probably rather have a 355ml can of beer as opposed to a 12 oz can LOL
By and large our edible products are all based on the old system
In others its been completley ignored such as in the construction feild .  Lumber is still measured in linear feet. sheetrock still comes in 4'X8' sheets. Flooring and wallpaper is still measured and sold by the square foot. Paint by the quart and gallon etc etc..
We may eventually be weened off the old system. but at the current rate I would not say its going  to be anytime soon.

Personally. I blame the french

Just be happy we dont go back to measuring by Cubits...  hmmm then again....:)

I think I'd like Metric if it wasn't for the cost of conversion.

doing math and calculations is much easier in metric.  but trying to put those figures into a visualization of what I've just figured is next to impossible for me.

so things like estimating clearance to bring parts in, or finding a good area to pre assemble parts really becomes a pain,  you either have to convert it all back into standard or go around with a metric tape and measure every area.

I suppose I wouldn't have this problem if I'd been raised doing it metric but I wasn't so I'll stick to standard.

and why doesn't America switch to metric?  because we don't have to.

LOL!

Ah, I see it's 89 minutes past 4.  Time for lunch.

BTW, the metric system doesn't get rid of the need for a leap year.  Nothing does.

Wrong! Let's live one day at a time and make every day Saturday! No more calendars or leap years! Who's with me?
