A320 Vs. B737
« on: April 16, 2004, 12:45:15 AM »
flew in both planes today and wanted  to share a comparision as far as flight characteristics go.

I'm not a modern "passenger" aviation export but i have to admit (sorry rip) that the MD seemed a better plane to ride  in

every 737 I rode in that day was bouncy and very uncomfortable.

the MD seemed to accelerate on take off very well and climbed VERY smoothly compared to the 737 I flew in hours before.

Now I know there's alot of other contributing factors but I have been flying ALOT this month (see my lack of replys)

I'd have to admit from a customer that HATES flying as a passenger in the modern comercial aviation industry...the MD was a better RIDE

Maybe it's an Airbus 320 built by MD.  Which would mean that it's built by Boeing.  Which would mean it's a Boeing A320.  So Boeing is now making Airbuses, I guess.  Maybe then it'd be called a B320?

I'm not sure you can compare aeroplanes like you can compare cars...

...what were the brakes like?

That makes sense. Boeings never crash.

Hmm, the 320 I flew in didn't seem to want to get in the air.  Took what seemed like a runway and a half to rotate.  The 757 I had just transfered from got airborn in very short order.

To get a proper picture of whats the plane alike, you need to have more than one or two trips.
Weather, load and traffic can make a big difference.

Just got back from a 3 hop trip to Indiana. The last plane I rode in was a Canadair Regional Jet. I got the back window seat and a deadheading pilot sat next to me. I asked him about the "flaps" at the top of the wings trailing surface. He said that the outboard ones were to help slow the plane in flight, while the inboard ones were to help keep the nose on the ground and were used after landing.

Well..... we hit the ground and it turned out just the opposite. He just said "oh well, now I know what to study for my next exam"

Guy, the 'bumps' are caused by the state of the air you're flying in.  You can't make a aircraft 'ride' better than the air it's passing through.

Sure, a heavy plane will be somewhat smoother that a lighter one, but that's about all.

DOGHE (best homer simpson voice smacking my head)  yes it was an A 320 and I wasnt comparing DRIVING THEM just from a passenger perspective......I've rode in 4 737s and 3 320s over the last 2 weeks and it just seemed to me that the 320 was such a smoother ride.

have to agree here the 737s took off real quick and the 320 seemed like it was gonna run out of runway.

Look I know this is kinda dumb but I just thaught it was interesting...
