Is it one of the boring sit down versions or the old school standup freestyle rides. I used have one back in the day.
 After a couple  near-death wipeouts I quit.

Missed a jump on a wake, went straight into the wave full speed, took the handle bar pad right in the chest, did a forward fiip over the ski.  flew about 10 ft infront of the ski. Damn thing was broken so it didn't auto turn when I let go. I bobbed back up and the ski flew by my head , inches from hitting me at high speed. Called it a day after that one.

A couple years ago out here in CA, some boater took a shotgun and blasted a jetskier off his ski. Those cigar boaters hate the skis following thier wakes.

I still don't get how you can live in Hawaii and not go jetskiing until now.

Have fun, don't do anything stupid.

I don't hate them all, just the ones who insist on jumping my wake when I have a skier or tuber behind.

XtremeJ,they're a lot of fun,but beware of tunnel vision. That's where you are so absorbed in what you're doing(spin outs, wake jumping, etc) that you inadvertantly cross in front of a boat's path.

If you want tips on how to do spin outs, here is what you do...get fairly fast(at least 25-30),then chop throttle and turn as hard as you can in either direction.I can do the same in my boat(93 Mastercraft Prostar 205)...it's a blast.

Be courteous of other boaters, have fun,and be safe.

heheh, teaching him how to do spins already.

Lake Michigan isn't exactly fun for a jetski.  Last time I rode one was off Clearwater beach near Tampa in FL.  Great waves, great scenery, and many dolphins to play with.  I parked the craft and jumped in between some feeding dolphins last march.  I dont think they cared, but they never got closer than 15 feet of me.  It was really neat.

Probably a bad idea,lol...

I've been there when bad things have happened on the water.People who don't spend much time on the water have no idea how unforgiving it is.I've been there to help find drowning victims, but the worst(for me at least)was when a guy(at Lake Cumberland KY,76 Falls) fired up his Checkmate and put it in gear without looking. He took a guy's leg off.
