President Bush secretly ordered an Iraq war plan, says a new book by Bob Woodward.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush secretly ordered a war plan drawn up against Iraq less than two months after U.S. forces attacked Afghanistan and was so worried the decision would cause a furor he did not tell everyone on his national security team, says a new book on his Iraq policy.

Lol grun.  Somehow I suspect he told Woodward only after Woodward demonstrated he had the goods.  Ya think Georgie didn't want to cross swords with Woodward?  Ya think maybe he didn't want to be in the same position as Nixon or Clinton?  Lie after lie after lie, only to reach the point of no return?

It's been obvious for a long time the entire Iraq war was based on prevarications cooked up by Bush and crew.   It's especially obvious the WMD stuff was cooked up by that wonderful pair of chefs Rumsfield and Cheney.

OTOH, do I like the outcome?  You bet, Saddam and sons are history and that's great.  But lying so he could reach this goal?  History isn't going to be kind to him.  He's a lying scoundrel.

Never mind that France, Germany, the U.N., and Clinton all said Iraq had WMD. Ignore that completely, it makes it easier to blame Bush.

I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong Funky, but didn't we all hear Bush deny sometime ago exactly what he's saying now?

Weren't we all led to believe the Iraq invasion was based on a CIA intelligence (flawed, but there it was.)

And now we learn that Bush's plan to invade Iraq predated the intelligence report?  That he in fact instructed Rumsfield to draw up a war plan?

You don't think old Rumsfield & Cheney might have put a little spin on the report do you?  I suppose Tenet's confession that "well, we got it wrong" or Condi's performance doesn't remind you of 50 cats, all with diarhhea, 25 out scouting for new territory, 25 covering up the old territory?

If you've already got some info that connects Iraq to supporting terrorists, what is wrong with going ahead and creating a battle plan so you're ready when the time comes?  Isn't that called "preparation"?
