I've looked for it and I can't seem to find how to fix this.

In the past, if I inserted a CD or attached a digital camera, I was prompted asking how to proceed. It used to be really convenient with the digital camera. For some reason, that "feature" seems to have disappeared.

Any clues on making it easy to access the camera again? Yeah, I know I can find it with the explorer, but that wasn't the original way.

assuming the camera was set up properly it should show up as a removable drive. If you can find your c and a drive you should be able to find the camera

Yeah... that still works. Basically, I'm trying to get the camera to "autoplay" like it used to.

Yeah Sandman, that is really helpful I use it on mine.

But anyway, to answer the question plug in the camera, then goto control panel, and select the camera, then once you do that, there is an option in there somewhere to fix it.

sandman as far as I can tell right click on the specific drive....click the autoplay tab and select (at the bottom) "promt me each time to choose an action"

Okay... found that... it's in the properties for the "drive". Unfortunately, the changes don't seem to affect anything.

Have you tried to unplug the USB cable from the computer and plugging it back in?

Yeah... I'm running through a USB hub. I've even tried switching ports.

Well, you may have to restart for that change to take effect. Might try that.

ok heres a step by step instruction that will fix ANY windows problem.

Restart and hit F8

select load to command prompt

type C: (or whatever your hard drive is)

type Format C:

follown the directions.

when its all done insert your windows CD

Type D: (or whatever your CD ROM drive is)

then type Setup.exe

Its a SURE FIRE FIX. Just remember if the car manufactures followed microsofts examply autos would only cost like $500 or so

on a serious note.....my OS keeps making a "Popping" sound...its actually the "systems notification" promt....I dont know what file this is associated with i dont get any prompts and nothing seems to be different....anyone know what this is

Plug your camara in, right click the drive letter, click properties,click the autorun tab, hit the restore defaults button, your all done no need to restart.

Hi there MT, have you tried it without the usb hub? In some models, the puter loses the autodetect capability when plugging through a hub.

The hub is the issue.
