Saw the first half last night.

I think I will watch part 2 tonight.

One thing I didn't like was the fact that the female slave was suddenly living in the cell with Sparticus from the time he went to fight in the games.  I thought the gladiators were given a woman for the night, not as permanent companions????

They obviously glossed over all the sleeping with her master that she must have done from that point until they rebelled.

I did like the fact that they showed the guys being burned alive at the games....that was realistic according to what I have read.

At the Collessium in Rome there were games held by Caligula at night.  The lighting was provided by crucified Christians being burned up in the same way.

As a side note:  I'm willing to bet that some of my distant relatives were killed in the games in Rome, or elsewhere.  Perhaps I should seek reparations from the Italians.

Is this a Holy Roman Empire kinda thing?

Dunno man...Rome was/is in Italy.  Gotta be the Italians who are to blame.

I mean the Italians have gotton the blame for all kindsa stuff that wasn't really them.

Look at facism.

Mussolini:  "We're all facists!"

Italian fella:  "Are we?  ok."

Aye but the European parliament is in Brussels, does that mean the Belgians get the blame for anything the French do?

Was looking forward to seeing this adaptation.

Unfortunately, it's got the wrong feel to it. Whatever it is that gives a film an "epic" quality, this one is missing it. I keep expecting Zena or Hercules to show up.

That said... Rhona Mitra is slammin'.
