Remember Team Fortress 2?

HL2 seems to be heading the same path.

May not make it for 04.

Newell: "delaying the game to 2005"    55 Comments

VG Pro has a small article that contains a quote supposedly from Gabe Newell. The quote suggests that HL2 could be pushed past a 2005 release date if Valve felt it was necessary. Here’s the quote:

We've already spent millions into this project, and we're willing to spend as much as we need to make this the best first person experience ever. If that means delaying the game to 2005, we'll do it without any hesitation. If it means sinking another $20 million into the project, we can do it. Rest assured, if we delay the game, it'll be only to blow your socks off even more when it finally releases.

Eheheh! The guys at HL2 have dropped the ball imho...

Push it back to 2005? I bet they took a good look at Farcry and decided that they need to push the release back even further...

Well well....

I've had the opportunity to play a beta (no AI and few NPCs) and let me tell you Far Cry is waaaaaaaay ahead, both in graphics and level architecture.

So far it's something like Starship Troopers meets the original Half Life.

Talk about using the wrong tactict... Oooo Look at this new top of the line game djust released! (goes the HL2 guys) Lets push the realease date back so we can add all the things they had in their game...

One year later : Same scenario again... Oooo Look at this new top of the line game djust released! (goes the HL2 guys) Lets push the realease date back so we can add all the things they had in their game...

Its a never win situation...

HL2 will not be released. Valve is going to sink so much money in that they'll either go bankrupt or will be bought by EA or Ubisoft and the game will be scrapped.

I stopped caring about HL2 shortly after they pushed it back the second time. Now, this doesn't surprise me. Valve has shot themselves in the foot and are bleeding to death...

I cancled my pre-order in September when they delayed it (the first time).

I dunno who is at fault here, but Valve needs to get their **** together.

PS:  Another vote for FarCry.  Im really hoping to see some serious modding.  A DoD style mod on that engine would be fantastic.

Ya, i would really like a good alternative to DoD... Getting alittle bit dated now... still fun but....

Wilfrid, you know of any WWII mod plans for Farcry?
