"They pay a subscription fee to carry out what would normally be the work of Israeli army reservists, as well as to work in hospitals and attend lectures in Jewish history."

Let's just try to remember one thing, that the majority of people of Isreal just want to be left alone and live in peace. If you were to poll every arab, the majority would probably feel the same way. It seems that extremists always give the majority a bad name. Peace seems so simple, yet so far away.

I've only been in a month, but the responsibilities of CAP seem rather large.

Apparently, something like 90% of the search and rescue missions carried out in the US are done by CAP.

Now, we're been tasked with Homeland Security and Drug interdiction.

We're not sure what the homeland securitiy deal is going to be, but will probably involve Photo Recon missions, like th drug interdiction role.

Here's an interesting tid bit too. CAP members can be called on to become active members of the military if the situation warrents.

Could you imagine how bad it would have to get for them to draft us????

Talk about the bottom of the barrel.

If nothing else, it's an excuse to get out of the house and log some hours on the cheap.

Muck,

I hope you never get "activated", but I have a sneaking suspicion that that is exactly what is going to happen...  mind you it will be domestic service, but you will allow the deployment of other active duty personnel while you CAP people take over domestic stuff.

Just a hunch me thinks.

You really think so, Bodhi?

They have started some new training courses...

First aid...Preparing Helicopter Landing area's....things like that.

Hey, if I can serve my country and still provide for my family as I do now, I'd do it, and I won't complain a bit.

Israeli army is a fine place for good folks looking for healthy entertainment.

Such as bulldozing American teenagers or shooting rock-throwing children with deadly force.

It just doesn't get any better than that. And would get you gas chamber anywhere outside of Israel.

That's not a job it's a perk.

shouldn't american teenagers be at schools - in america, anyway? Traveling to the middle east is no way to get education.
