A suggestion re: arenaS

Which map receives the most complaints?

Think its obvious...  enough to justify some change by HTC.. ??
Well lets change the question.
How many maps are there complaints about on a regular basis?

Which map has received the most hoorahs?  (when it appears in the MA, not gets reset)

I think it really is time for 2 MA's,  different maps in each rotation so that there are NEVER 2 of the same maps up.

This will NOT split the community, dunno why anyone would think it would...   With different maps in each, players will move between the arenas probably quite abit.

This may then make it quite obvious which maps are liked and disliked the most...

Same planeset, same options in both, and a naming convention that doesn't make it sound like its a secondary or overflow arena.

My thots...

Don`t look now, but there has been that option for about 2 or 3 weeks now. :D

could be a good idea because it will lessen the lag from too many players in the ma

I disagree. WB had an arena for every flavor. Relaxed realism, historical, no icon, MA and on and on..

You NEED a sandbox. Biggest mistake beside losing Dale was losing the sandbox.

ALL the current maps are playable. Some less than others. If you had a log on poll of your favorite map, the ones that need work would come out in the wash.

Adjustments to those and a relook at the time each map is up would solve all of it without splitting the comunity.

Take away the sandbox, you lose the front door.

That doesn't work.

And WB is the proof.

I agree with np. There's no need for 2 arenas. It will just split the mission dudes and suiciders. The problems aren't with the numbers. Any map is good as long as there is air combat. All maps suck if they are filled with timid "flying smarts" and suicide pork and augers.

Your right poop,

The maps should have some kind of rating so we can see whats what and the ones that need work get worked on making them more balanced.

Right now we have 2 balanced maps and the rest leave choices at the door for others.  I will say though, I am getting alot more done in the real world when the unbalanced maps are up. :aok

I like the idea, but Maniac is right, otherwise people would be flying in OzKansas Map Test arena.

Hmm isn't the dualing arena now basicly a furball arena? Set up nicly for air starts, even has different levels of air starts. Distance is about perfact for furbaling?

ummmm, sorta, kinda....

a1-a2 the new "defacto" furball area is very chaotic, not really a furball in the sense of a furball. with killshooter off and a1 being the default log in base, it's a series of 1 v1 's with an inevitable cherrypick. plus it's at 10-20k... takes away some planes performances, especially the "furball" type planes.

a41,42 and 43 are perfect for furballing but.....  they're a tad too far apart for the kind of furballing it should appeal to.

If anything, I'd bring in  41-43 a bit closer, have variable auto assign new arrivals to this area (so not everyone ends up, say, bish) and turn on killshooter to prevent a repeat of a1 - (a2).

just my .02

I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

Yeah I agree Shane,

DA is a good Substitute when the alternative to a real Furball arena is nothing.

But again I don't think the answer is splitting up the MA, I think the answer is making all the maps ballanced so that everyone can find the kind of fight they are looking for.  Of course the balance will change as bases are captured, but I can live with that.  Fester has proved this is possible and the playability seems to speak for itself.

I don't like your idea Skurj.

It's an overly complex workaround to a problem requiring a simple solution.

Namely (and for the love of God), YANK the Pizza map.

But... I know y'all have tried saying this in so many ways.

Thus.... I like your idea Skurj.
