He he he, I was describing what it looks like for the winner of the batle.  You are describing what they look like to me after they kill me.

I can tell you w/ certainty two things: It has nothing to do w/ "whine" and we are all dweebs.

...a long time ago, in a virtual world far, far away....dweeb was the accepted form of insult (and the only one that could be used with the assurance that you would not be banned come Monday morning :)). Generally speaking, a dweeb is a clueless individual.

A wise (or so he said) Air Warrior once said, "If you think you are not a dweeb...then you probably are a dweeb." The Great Paradox of Dweebdom :).

The 800yd shots are BS. But a little birdie tells me that these might be a thing of the past in AH2.

I have never, ever, scored an 800 yrd kill in a Spit V, and I have spent a considerable amount of time in this bird.

All gunnery in AH II is just a tad more different. If your con flys straight and level, and you have the right gun package, I would believe that you will get kills at 800 yrds ... its not out of the realism zone.

Spit V? Nothing dweebier.

-- Todd/Leviathn

Um yeah, cause there's no other possible explanation for the moves you pull in that thing :lol Can you teach me that reverse you do so well?

Spit V is a pilots plane, it doesn't have the speed to outrun so you must kill everyone before you can go home. If you can keep your SA up enough it's damn near invinceable.

Ask BigB717, Slappy.  He was BnZ'n me the other night in his 109 vs. me in the mkV.  Out of desparation I snapped off a few rounds of cannon and MG at his tail end @748m.   Next thing I knew, he was saying something about a BS shot and plummetting to the earth.:rofl

I told him I thought it was pretty stellar shooting, and then he agreed.:)   He was OK after that...

A few of us were up in Corsairs/Hellcats against Taki's Tyrants on Monday. One of the tactics I saw deployed was the pseudo-HO - Go for an HO, but as I would avoid it the N1K would flip over and set up a shot from as much as 800 yards. One guy was proud that he got me from 861 yards.

Judging from accounts of pilots and WW2 historians, that would be well outside the realism zone. Our own Douglas Bader once accidentally discharged a few rounds at a German plane (109 I think) some 800 yards distant, and was amazed to see the thing start leaking oil. His wingmen were equally amazed! I doubt anyone actually shot wings off at that kind of range. (Dispersion etc.) As for cannon rounds "flying" that far, erm....

Outsiders to AH often speak of AH's laser gunnery. I no longer have to ask them what they mean by that.

Stolen from the "P-51 is ovemodled" thread. A quote from a P-51 Ace ...

My flight chased 12 109s south of Vienna. They climbed and we followed, unable to close on them. At 38,000 feet I fired a long burst at one of them from at least a 1000 yards, and saw some strikes. It rolled over and dived and I followed but soon reached compressibility with severe buffeting of the tail and loss of elevator control. I slowed my plane and regained control, but the 109 got away.
