The "flesh eating" virus

What ever happened to that nasty bastard?

There was a huge scare over it several years ago in the US, I remember seeing some photos of it. Seems to have disappeared?

I think it was a test by Bush for a new WMD, he used Americans as the subject. Bet if theres any WMDs in or around Iraq, we'll find that virus in a test tube.

According to my wife, that type of bacteria survives on your skin, it may be on you as we speak.  Depending on your immune system, will determine if it gets ahold of a scratch on your body.  Its simply an advanced type of strep.

She (my wife) has seen two cases of it in the past year at Harbor View, its just not headline news anymore, just like shark attacks ;)

Lucien Bouchard (Partie Quebecois leader) lost his leg to that a few years ago.  Nasty stuff.

Ah, so its a bacteria. They were reporting it as a virus in the DC metro area when it was news-worthy. Thanks for the link Rip.

Mosgood, my sister told me about a part in that movie - I haven't watched it because I just can't bring myself to spend money on it... although I did rent this horrible horrid movie a few days ago. "Stranded" - the only movie where I wanted all the actors to be killed right after they began talking in the first 10 minutes. Nevar awgin!

Guess my baits been out in the sun too long, all shriveled and dried up like jerky, no one wants it.

They pump sooooo many anti-biotics into patients to help stem the flow of the bacteria, but the area thats infected is history, they have to cut it out.

Strep bacteria is some mean stuff..it was first discovered in the 1800's.

PAAANNCAKES!!! PAAANCAKES

What a friggin priceless movie.  If you look at it as pure entertainment and dont worry about "artistic value" and such Cabin Fever is a great movie.  There is plenty of random things going on to keep anyone happy.  There's plenty of mindless screwing as well which is always + :).

There's diferent kinds of strep too.  There's the kind you get in your throat, then there's the flesh eating kind and then there's the one that acts like the flu but a lot worse.  I got it a couple times a few years back.  My bosses son got it at day care and then we bounced it back and forth between his family, the school and our office.  Sux bad!   Every muscle in your body aches like the flu, only about twice as bad.

Wasn't it strep that caused that plague thing they had in Europe way back when? "the black death" ?

No, the plague as in the bubonic plague was from parasites feeding off of rats then spreading it to humans.

IIRC, Jim Henson, of Sesame Street and Muppets fame, died from this bacteria.  Maybe it was an urban legend, but I thought the news reported that was the cause.

I thought Jim Henson died from a strain of pneumonia.
