Key to multiple arena succes...

Hey HT.

An simple way to promote the different arenas that we allready have is simply to give the AH playerbase information about them...

Yes we who are here on the BBS know the ins and outs of AH but how many are we here? 30%? 40% of the playerbase?

Would it be too much to ask to have an information page pop up each time you log in to AH? Before you select arenas i mean...

This information page could describe the different arenas...

Like :

Combat Theater Arena : Fly in a more "realistic" arena with Axis Vs Allies.

Dueling arena : Furball untill you puke

Main arena : Blabla blaabla

You get the point :)

Edit : On another point, Wy not change the name "main arena" to something different? djust the word "main arena" suggest that thats the place you should be because its the "main arena"

Why not give all arenas the chance of succeed?

Remove the word "Main" completly from the arena selection...

Yes this is definitely a requirement, or something like it.

"IF" we went with 2 main arenas, MA 1 and MA 2 will still find people going to #1 first..

Ya, thats why i dont like the "Main Arena" name, If we went with 2 main arenas then why not name them after what map are in them?

That would be great...

1. Pizza Map

2. Oz Kanzas

3. BoB (Axis Vs Allies)

etc...

See the nfo once and it's enough, why read the same .txt over and over again?
A new name is maybe better but we already have plenty: a title, the number of players over max occupancy, and the ping.
Maybe add a button at the arena list page, but you could just as well go in each and see for yourself.

edit: adding the map name would be better, yes.

Of course with a checkbox with the option "Do no not display this pop up on the next login" would be great...

And if HTC changes any info on the "login popup" then it defaults to pop up to all the people who allready have "checked" the "checkbox"

That last part was a bit cryptic but i cant find the correct words today :)

Yes it would be to much to ask. Just think of other things that have popup messages, like tip of the day after a new instalation.

1. How often do you read those.
2. How often do you think, wish they didn't do that crap.

It is basicly just a forced help system that still dosn't cbange any thing except make it more of a pain to use.

2nd on your nameing suggestion, It seems like your goal is to move people to the CT arena. Even from a stand point of how you describe the arenas to there order.

My goal isn't to move poeple to the CT arena,it is not to prevent them from going there either. So why would I  want to rename the main arena, which is exatly what it is, to somthing different?

No problem, then atleast we now know your stance on this...

Multiple arenas will never function with the current setup, and it is not the wish from HTC for it to function either.

If theres an arena called the Main arena then theres where all the folks will go.

And thats final.

The main arena is a success. The other arenas are djust there for show...

the name's arbitrary and the players are the bottom line to what's succesful or not.  They play for the hit sprites, not for the arena name...

Warbirds already trys/tried so ething of this sort.  People still go to the most full place.  

Same thing happened in Air Warrior (but it had arena number caps) In these days there were hundreds of players in multiple arenas (this is the only game I ever saw with multiple full arenas).

Yes players play for shooting things down. I agree completly.

Back to the subject.

The names of the arenas have a big role in which arena is the big hit...

Yes, and thats because theres at the most 100 people online at the same time in WB. I can understand that they want to play with eachother...

They aint got the player base to split up between arenas.
