Sounds like Udie's been busy.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Absolutely, imagine what unprecedented destruction he could have caused if he would have unleashed the enormous power of his anti-war drawing

yep.. I think what you miss by not living here is that because of school shootings it has been made a requirement that all drawings and writings of this nature are reported.   Secret service handles threats on the president.   did they overreact?  probly but they could get accused of undereacting if he ended up even knowing someone who made an assaination attempt.

Seriously.  Good thing we ignored the harmless videotapes made by the Columbine students - CNN wouldnt have had anything to report that month.

Sure, just reflect on what kind of country you live in when everyone effectively has to be placed under stringent surveillance to warrant their and others' safety...

And at the same time many say that they utterly despise government interference but that teh Patriot Law doesn't offend them a bit. What an inconsistenties.

It's OK thud, some day you'll realise that the secret service responded to something that went through 3 layers of "evaluation" before they even heard about it.  That's a teacher, an admin and a police force that decided it was prudent to turn this over to the secret service.

Damn those nosey government officials that responded to concerns and decided not to make an arrest.

Me thinks that the teacher, the admin and the police force haven't dared to endorse any responsibility...

If he had drawn a pic of the head of a classmate on a stick, I sure as **** would have wanted some authority to know about it.

The Columbine videos brought up were a valid point because in that case one could assume that the tragedy might have been prevented in case the videos would've been discovered.

To surface at the first place these would require some thorough  preventive investigation. That is the choice you'd face with respect to that particular case.

As to the Bush-drawing, if a caricaturous drawing with his head on a stake, made by a high-school student warrants a secret service intervention...

Especially when both the teaching staff and police (why were they involved?) already are notified it is laughable that s-s resources are wasted on such an 'incident'.
