1. Grab a calculator. (You won't be able to do this
 one in your head)
  2. Key in the first three digits of your phone
 number (NOT the area
 code)
  3. Multiply by 80
  4. Add 1
  5. Multiply by 250
  6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
  7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone    number
 again.
  8. Subtract 250
  9. Divide number by 2

  Do you recognize the answer?

fun fun!

Umm, I don't.  I've done this several times with different phone numbers.  Nothing special...

Morning math question..

It really a dumb joke from an algebra perspective.

Here's why.

Let's say x = first three digits of your phone say 123.
Let's say y = last four  digits of your phone, say 4567.

Following all the instructions, I get an expression :

( ( (80x +1) * 250 + 2y ) -250 ) / 2

simplifying I got an equivalent expression of:

10,000x + 125 + y -125 !!!!!

So what does this tell me.

ten thousand times any numbers just adds 4 (count em 4) zeros to the original number.

so your phone number 123 now becomes 123 0000

Cute eh.

Gets better.

125 + y -125 ---- Gee the 125 is just a red herring. It cancels outs.

So now you're left with y, the last four digits of your phone,
What was that - 4567.

So its 123 0000 +  4567

yielding your phone 123- 4567.

Simple manipulation of digits.

Duh.......................... ...
