New Damage model for Ace's High?
« on: November 12, 2000, 01:02:00 PM »
Can we have this type of damage model in 1.05?
This is the after-math of a 40mm direct hit in CFSII!

No, no Ditch but I did belly land it and flipped it over, And I was wandering why I lost Oil & manifold pressure right after the blast.

Center of Gravity wise, I don't think the plane should be able to fly. Is CFSII a bit arcadish in the FM, or I really suck in areodynamics?

Is CFSII is worth being bought, I'm tempted but I'm a realism hardcore fan. Can u guys tell me? (it's off topic  )

That gun damage looks most improbable, almost silly... Or did the engines fall off the F6F all the time?

Agreed Badboy. Looks like childish FMs combined with horrid aerodynamic modeling.

I can tell you from a personal experience with CFS2 that it does have some glaring errors in the basics of flight modling/damage.

I had a betty shoot my nose off exactly like that (seems to be a very popular thing in the game), and with no engine at all, I decided to try to ditch in the water.

Well I was only at 2,000 feet, so I dropped down low (aprox 20-50 feet) and waited for my airspeed to drop.....and waited....and waited....after about 3 minutes (no exageration) I figured, well maybe if I nose up just a tad.....ACK....the plane actually accelerated from 210 mph to 235 mph as I gained altitude.

Eventually I did drop down to 100 mph and ditch but it took a good 5 minutes......screw the sailplane....F6F is the glide champ!

Frenchy,

The c.g. for this particular F6 would be about at the tailplane...  This plane should be flipping over and over on it's way down...

Rumour is Funked was up front (don't ask me what he was doing down there) but apparently it balanced the CoG out quote nicely.

These pictures are just pretty graphics and probably have nothing to do with actual damage modelling.

Frenchy, The FM has a few "Bugs"   in it, as for the Rest it's not a hard core sim But it's is a hell of a lot of fun and that is about it. as for buying it, if you are looking to have a lot of fun then yes but if you are looking for true hard core then it falls short in many ways.

MCFSII? Do not buy it. I did, and it is like throwing money to the wind. AI is unbelievably stupid, once I specially jumped before zero and he stayed close on my 6 for more than a minute. Did he tried to shot me down? No. He just kept flying same direction. Also, they do not break when you killing them, just keep flying straight. Damn, even MCFSI was better. And that is on 100% of realism, etc.

Well, it is all IMO.

Hi!

There are some issues with the flight model.
I once flew against a buddy in ,ultiplayer, I had an F4U and he had a N1K. OK, I know this plane is to be a very good dogfighter - but we merged at hgih speed - and i mean high. I decided to zoom and the niki did a flat 180° turn and then came up behind me closing!!!

Well, this took place more than once and I'm wondering how this Niki could have done that...

Online games spoil box games, why? Because Box game AI's are not cunning like  humans are. Thus, AI's suck.

CFS2 is okay, but you have to remember your playing a game, not a sim.
