Color blind ... potential customer loose ....
« on: November 13, 2000, 03:49:00 AM »
Last afternoon I was trying to corrupt a friend of mine to let him play AH
I've started an online AH session giving him access to the MA from my computer (I know he is "daltonien" he as trouble reading red and green).
I move him to a field with a big furball of bishcuit/nit/crook and give him the command just to hear him saying to me "why are we going to a void sector ?"

He canno't read the sector bar !
I've difficulties myself reading the greenish handle but I can almost read them but he cannot see anything !

Please HTC we need a patch asap !

Yep.
The most common form of color blindness (10% of males have it to some degree) is red-green.
Very bad choice for country colors.
It would be nice if we had RGB sliders to pick which color the icons are.
This would even the playing field a bit.

I'll try and get the configurable colors pushed up on our to-do list.

Straffo, I am "colourblind" up to 70% and it is indeed a nightmare, the only thing to remember is that the Green Bar is above the red one, if only one is up, ask a friend   .

Then again, that's why I'm developer, not pilot

While I'm not colorblind in any way [vision is 20/19] I do prefer colors that stand out more. Back in the old WBs days I had a VERY bright purple set to nme icons [all of 'em]. I don't give a rip where they're from, if I spotted a purple icon I shot it down. Offline of course. Tracer colors I played with all the time, depending on the season. For Halloween I used Yellow and Orange tracers, Red and Green for Christmas. My gunsight was bright red, because it stood out from everything else.

Right now I've got all my sights set to a sea-sick green [see my site and you'll know the color]. They stand out more. HTML color code is 33FF33, and looks almost neon in the game. Icons I'd prefer to set at a different color than red for enemy targets. For a bit I had the icon color in WBs set to a nasty hot pink. Made my gunnery even better as I HATE that color.

"Gadzooks, pink bad guys! Kill 'em all! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!" <insert flaming red eyes and drool here>

Hey this is for you guys who think that they have somekind of color blindness.

You should see that red box in the middle "floating", if you see it you dont have any common color blindness. This is official picture grabbed from www.colorblind.com!
