P-40E default skin update snails progress but looks good

havent forgotten about my old p-40e yet, been working on it a tiny bit here and there still have to draw plans for the panel lines and rivets for the main wing undersurface and add shading to the elevator, tires and more dirt on the wing leading edges and paint chips.

will make the panel line and rivet templates available on ahskins.com if anyone is interested in them after I complete them.

excellent.  Have you been using the above scan (model) as a reference for the lines?  I've attempted some panel templates but found it too tedius and time consuming with lack of a good reference  Once finals are overwith I'll have some time to get cracking at the skins again.

yeah those are small img of the plans i using.

I scale and distort them to match the mapping on the plane then I put panel lines and rivet layers over it using the plans as a guide.

Hey Cit,

Would it be possible to 'lend' your rivet / panel lines reference my way?  I'm almost halfway through my own P40E template and the rivets are going to give me a headache...

Looks just terrific, Citabria.     If you wouldn't mind, making the paint chip and weathering effects layers would be very helpful to skinners as well.      The P-40 is goign to generate alot of interest I'm sure - lots of colorful schemes to pick from.

Can you post the template in .psd format on AH skins?

the combined size of the 2 psd files is 25 mb if everything is left in them.

I will probably delete most layers and leave in basic panel lines, rivets, rivet shading highlights and what not. will leave the paint chips in so you can see how i made them (1 layer blue tinted grey with a duplicate layer inverted and both having some transparency)

if ahskins can host the whole big file i will send it though. I am cool with anyone using any part of the skin layers any way they want, and the way its set up pretty much everything is adjustable though with so many layers it will be a bit confusing to you.

and making this available to everyone will increase the accuracy and quality overall of p40 skins because others will be able to improve upon what ive done and make even cooler stuff.

Sweet! That P40 is lookin great Fes:) Now after ya get bored make the squad a P38! Pink preforably. Actually HT wouldnt allow that but we figure something out.

BTW Now I know that this was the project keeping you away from AH. That and well the, other  lil secret you have been hiding until recently:p
