Interesting enough, I ran across "Ram's Cheater" of sorts yesterday afternoon. I had crisp clear connects all afternoon, no warps, no micro-warps..I dove on a B26 from a very high 6 'clk position, about 50 degree dive, to saw off his tail with my .50's.
Just as I had a guns solution, about D.600, the B26 went from my 12 to my 6 clk position, with pings hitting me , luckily, I survived, but it was very disturbing to see a nice steady B26 in regards to connections, but then do a warp from 12 to 6 in a nano-second...I aired my opinion on what I witnessed and asked Shamus (a nearby enemy Spit fighter) to ask the individual to log off and back on again.

Sure, it upset me, I've been around online sims long enough to know what folks have been known to do with their modems/connections to turn the tables in their favor...but in no way would I ever quit because of an anomoly once in a blue moon, but it sure does piss me off!

Ah! But you didn't come here and post a furious list of accusations and names, and that is the difference. I agree with you and RAM, weird things do happen. OTOH, clubbing someone without any definitive evidence will get you in trouble every time.

I know on Warbirds there was what I called the 12 to 6 cheat.
You hit alt tab, which switches you to desktop. As soon as you hit alt tab, count to 3. Then Alt Tab Back. Usually the person behind you will be about D1.5 in front of you.

This can be caused by lag and warps, usually if it's the Alt Tab then they don't warp.

I have seen planes in Warbirds Wink Out from the 12 and re-appear on my six. When someone did this to me three time in a row it was too suspicious. I started asking and someone told me about the Alt Tab thing.

All I can say is if it happens once ignore it, if it happens twice be very suspicious, try to get it on film. If they are resulting to this tactic it should be pretty easy to catch it on film. Then send the Films to HT and let HT deal with it.

If you are aware that it can be done you know what to look for. I assume that if enough people catch someone doing this type of thing HT will make an example.

Downtown, last I was in WB, you couldn't alt-tab, you had to hit the help button, that would take you to a smaller help screen where you could access the desktop. I remember this being an issue, because it was the only way to change your RW ip setting. Just curious, maybe they've changed it, or maybe you're talking about running it from within a window.

But here it happens a lot less frequently, & I don't feel like a fool for taking on a long bomber mission just to be discoed within site of the target (as used to happen in WB with alarming regularity) --Not meant as a WB slam, just my personal observations--

Last time I checked WB, you could alt-tab in flight, but in the tower you had to use the "help file" switch. Of course, since 2.7 alt-tab slowly corrupted my Vid card (TNT and TNT2) and every time I ran the risk of a hard crash.
So I switched to AH. I do a lot of work on the desktop while flying in AH and I thoroughly enjoy this aspect of the game.
now, on an unrelated issue, if some of you are speaking of a method of cheating that actually works, you should consider removing your posts.

I don't know if this works in AH, and I think the reason to say that it could happen, is that it could happen.

People who need to cheat, are going to cheat.  I am sure HT and Pyro know what goes on, and I for one wouldn't risk getting banned.  I don't understand why some people can't accept getting shot down.  I know Torque gets shot down, I have a screen shot of me shooting him down.  I know Zigrat gets shot down, I have flown on his wing.  I know Yeager gets shot down I have seen him get shot down.  I belive I get Citibria once myself.  I don't think I ever got Mitsu.
RAM, I shot him down, Skeleton Crew Pilots I have shot them down, been shot down by em.

I have no pity for cheater, if you catch them turn them over to HT.  Fly with a wingy and if they try to cheat perhaps your wingy can blast the cheater out of the sky when he tries the faint on you.  The best think I heard to do with a 12 to 6 cheat is immediatedly go into a loop and you should come right back behind the cheater when he re-appears.  Then SMOKE EM!

So, if you know that this cheat exist, and you see someone using it, it shouldn't be hard to catch them, cause they are gonna use it more than once.  If they are using it, and they are a cheat, have no mercy, announce to your countrymen where the cheater is flying and then Dweeb hunt them till the log.  If they are real stupid they will try the cheat 10 or 12 times in a row, you can all get it on film, inundate HT/Pyro with the film of the cheater, indesputable evidence, and get them banned.  Announce on CH1 about the individual using the 12 to 6 cheat and get everyone to Dweeb hunt him.  Remember when NAZI32 was on, his own countrymen were telling us where he was, and no one would fly his wing.  He was getting shot down left and right.

Real Virtual Pilots don't need cheats, and there is no shame in falling prey to this type of cheater.  Do all you can to identify him and let HT/Pyro deal with them.

I have never seen anyone who used the 12 to 6 and was clever using it.  Once they start they will use it time and again.  After the 2nd time get them on film for about 3 more times.  Zip the film and email it to HTC.

Also HT, Pyro, Natedog, Superfly Etc.. fly online and the bozo may be dumb enough to try it on them.  If you know they are online, and someone is cheating, ask them to fly over your way and monitor the behavior of your suspect.

Anyhow IMHO Knowledge is the best weapon.

What I was saying Greybeard is that you got a group of pretty good virtual pilots and the SC doesn't go about whining anytime any of them are shot down.  The Burn or Bail and re-up without any whining.  Torque don't whine, Yeager don't whine, Zigrat don't whine, Etc.. Etc.. the good pilots don't whine about getting killed, and don't cheat to avoid getting shot down.  I don't know if/or why people would cheat to improve their stats/scores.  To my knowledge no one has one anything for being the Aces High Ace of Aces.  No pilot who cheats will get any respect from the others, only derision, so why cheat.  The Folks who do cheat only do it to piss in someone else's wheaties, they don't care if they win or lose just so long as they can cheat.  I say that you catch em in the act and let HTC deal with them.  I don't know what they expect the Aces High Cheat of Cheaters award?  Anyhow, if you know what they can do, and they get caught enough times I am sure HT will deal with them.

I don't get it, where is the challenge, change the code cause it's there?  Cheat for the sake of cheating?  I don't understand, I have never had anything given to me, and find that the things I have to work for are much more enjoyable.

I can't abide a cheat, if I can help people root them out and get them banned I will be happy.
