The 13th TAS has been devoting at least the 1st hour of our squad night to flying in AH II and have been trying to get others to participate. Usually we get a decent showing. We even split countries, within the 13th, to try and balance numbers.

Why don't you see if you could garner some support with the MAW and do the same on one of your squad nights. Post when you are going to do it, and I will be there, and probably bring some more of the 13th with me.

All these procrastinator's that are "waiting" are gonna be in for a shock when HT throws the switch and AH I is put out to pasture.

He is going to due it eventually, and I believe, sooner than most expect. They will then be FORCED to fly AH II. At that point, for most, they will be whining that their computer can't handle it ... the FM stinks ... the DM stinks ... blah blah blah. Meanwhile, they now have the chance to test all this new stuff out, and voice their concern and/or findings before the "cement" has dried.

I think that EVERY major squad should try to get some squad night participation going on in AH II.

We've been talking about it in the MAW too, Slappy.

I understand the gunnery, let alone the FM is quite different in AHII and we need to get used to it if we're going to be effective.

Tonight is a MAW squad night so I'll bring it up then.

BTW, I'll work more on reporting bugs, but I'm not very good at it.

Some exciting things I've found since the last post, including oil spills, Bent Props, etc...the damage is interesting...but why is it, when I am looking for the "Laser Ack" to nail me in AHII so I can see a hole in my wing, I could de-ack the whole damn field and never get a scratch....AH1...I'm dead in the first pass!!

Also, Midnight, if you feel there are bugs with a particular flight model, you need to post your findings in the AH2 Bug Reports forum with real proof and not speculation.  If you have done this already, then disregard.  ;)

This needs to be a sticky, somewhere...any forum...maybe all of them! :)

Hey Muck AHII is awsome compared to AHI.

There are still some things that need to be worked out, stuttering and such, but it is still very playable.  Some real good fights as well since the crowd is smaller and you don't have to fly forever to find a fight.  (Thats on our sqd nights anyway.  If you don't go over there with the intent that others are meeting you in there it's pretty baron)

It would be great if you guys brought everyone over there,  I would definatly meet you guys out there for your sqd nights.

The new FM is much closer to realistic than AHI and the affects are great.  I have been waiting weeks to see the blood and I finally got hit in the brain, it was awsome!!!!!

I can't wait for HTC to get the bugs worked out and for them to make the cut over.  I wish more people flew in there in time I guess.

I'm looking forward to AHII.  AND to TOD :)

Downloaded every patch and reported anything I see not right.  Even began upgrading my system.  Had to wait for the funds etc. but got a good machine for AHII now.

Fly from time to time in the AHII arena but very seldom anyone in it :(
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

I'm in no hurry, as I'm new to AH-I.  (No good at it yet, but is fun and has a lot of potential).  Just want HTC to do a good job on AH-II, and not rush it.

I have submitted a bug report or 2 for AH-II, but lack of experience in the AH-I baseline makes my input less valuable in some areas of the beta.

Oh!

I for one want them to take the time needed to do AHII RIGHT!

It would be a lot easier to get excited if we had a vague idea of what's coming, like for example in that thread the other day where people were whinging about the graphics looking the same as AH1......when HT dropped in and mentioned they'd got searchlights and other cool stuff that'll work with the new graphics engine.  Now that perked me up a bit, ok........no screenshots, no official announcement, but HT letting slip something we didn't already know!  Woo!

Shake dem pom poms!

ok stop now.

It would keep a lot of peoples interest up if HTC actually told us anything, anything at all.  We've been waiting since early 2003 for a FAQ as well.

LOL, no offense. I always get a little kick out of things like this. Really no offense intended.

Has anyone complaining ever programmed, or built a game, or anything along that line? I get the feeling that the normal response is no. It's not a pisssing contest. It actually takes a LOT of time. It's not like some mystical magician walks into a room with concrete ideas and whips out a couple lines of code and it's all better now.

While you may stick to your idea it may take several roads to get there. There are so many ways to lay down code, almost infinite. You might end up with a whole page of code to make one execution from beginning to end. Yet when it's done and you step back you suddenly get struck that if you just put these few lines in it would eliminate the whole page and optimize the code. So while it's easy for some it's just not that cut and dry. There is a lot of experimentations and process of elimination to what works best.

With the quantity of things that need work, then to top it off with new additions, it's hard for me to imagine how someone would feel it's taking a long time. The only thing that tells me is impatience flourishes. Only because they must not know what all goes into it. Totally oblivious.

HTC must be complete workaholics to complete the work they are in such a short time. Do some here realize it takes some companies months for new updates yet HTC turns one out every few days or a week? That is incredible dedication, and a lot of work. You could be waiting months for a huge update, rather then seeing it evolve step at a time. IMO their approach to this is the best way.

The only silliness I see in all of this, and please don’t make me throw a string of cuss words in here,…………….. TURN ON THE MOTHER WRENCHING FLAPS COD DANGIT!!. What’s with this no 100% flap usage? You have a stall limiter, now turn on the cod dang flaps. That is in part where SOME immersion and true aspects of piloting is totally lost. Give the dang pilot control of the plane, all of it. IF flaps usage bothers some too bad, that’s a HUGE part of piloting, learn it.

Why say things if you have a good idea they wil change?

Thanks for your time, I now return you to your regularly scheduled program…

Anyway my bet is a Christmas release. That is realistic. Meantime have a nice summer and forget about it. Also think of the cash you're saving not needing that new kit for AH2/ HL2 :aok

Fogold is right I think.  The only downside of it all is a lot of people upgraded video cards too soon (read too expensively).

My guess is sooner than Christmas, based on the frequency and content of the patches, but then, what do I know? LOL

Sadly, ÁH2 has already obsolete graphics (same league than AH1) and a full of bugs graphic engine, waitting so many months for that is a bit frustrating even knowing that it is still in bete stage. Now, my only excitement, if any, is about flight model changes.
