let's be positive and take it the other way around : with the money WBers spare from WB, they'll now be able to (re)open an account in AH. isn'it great

I have no big problem with someone posting about WB changes here, thankfully most AH'ers are not so paranoid about other sim discussions.

Unfortunately, due to guys like MG, there is some anger still simmering towards some of the wb crowd and the off topic discussions.  I hope ah players try to stay above it.

As I mentioned in another thread on the same subject, it was the warps and pathetic gunnery that drove me away from WB, not the cost.

I'm undecided what to do.

On the one hand, Warbirds has a great planeset.  I am a early/midwar plane fan, AH simply offers no selection in this area in regards to allied aircraft.  Warbirds also has many historical scenerios relating to the early and midwar battles.  Aces High does not, and cannot until more planes are added.

On the other hand, AH has much better graphics and a seemingly better flight model.  Warbirds feels a little too responsive, too forgiving, too bouncy, and too manuverable.  The damage model in AH seems to be a little more accurate as well.

Then again, Aces High has the brainless laptop AWACS for a radar system, something I do not like.  It also has combat trim, auto climb, etc.  All of which is unrealistic.  Warbirds does not.

So, when everything is taken into account, I would say they are both excellent sims.  Some good and bad qualities in both games.

If HTC put more focus on designing early and midwar aircraft, it would be AH hands down...but as of this moment, I am undecided due to this factor.

Cabby - My post was mostly in response to the WB faithful person who insisted on bombarding the open channel buffer with comments about how bad AH is and how much better WB is.  It was really annoying and I know, I know...I can always ignore it but I enjoy most of the other witty stuff that goes on there.  It was by now means a comment meant to drive people away, I just feel that if a person wants to take time to complain in the open channel buffer about how bad this game is....he can leave.

To little to late for WB's
Good ridance hope they have fun over there but I'm used to this SIM and at least it still has the original programmers still running the show. The other one has had a hodgpodge of diffrent programmers and I'm sure its all a mess by now.........

Warbirds has auto level, auto speed and auto angle.

Agree on one thing. I too want more of the early war stuff done in AH.

I think it's great! It's about time all those good people over in WB can now fly all they want on a flat rate.

It is certainly decision time now for the $10 ACA all-you-can-eaters over there. I bet most will pony up another $15.

It's a great time for WWII sims with all this competition for our money. Good things up ahead.....

Torque,

got to the place between AirWarrior and AcesHigh..........there you will find Warbirds! (interestingly, with the majority of iEN folks paying to play in the ACA, its much closer to AW).

If only we could entice cabby to be our version of kil-me.........sigh!

Too little, too late,

I knew they would have to go flat rate to survive. I also believe it will hasten their demise. Say goodbye to updates down the road. The poor fellows who stayed for the last couple'a years have suffered the tortures of the damned. Connects have been horrible. Cust service was a joke ( I too couldn't cancel), and the updates stopped dead in the water. During this time, they continued to collect the full fee, sigh.

To me it's personal. Dale and crew made the finest online sim to date. They sold it. The new owners shot their foot or mouthed it every day it seemed. They added nothing new for over a year. HTC made a new sim. Some now concider it the best. No comparison. One team has proved themselves. The other has overcharged, while adding nothing new. They'll never see any more cash from me. They have the worst rep online. Have fun.

I realize that one Warbirder has spoiled the pot and essentially labelled all Warbirders, but keep in mind that alot of us still love playing WB.

Bashing my game isn't gonna help bring my business to AH. I'd like to try AH out online sometime, but that will have to wait till I get a new computer.  I'll tell you what though, what will most likely keep me away from AH is what I read about WB right here on this board. You all do know that AGW has the equivalent of MG, more than one probably. "So and so posted this over there, so I'm gonna post this over here..." Get a life people. Yah, I know AH gets bashed on AGW, and that isn't right, either. It's all kinda childish if you ask me. I'm not talking about constructive criticism, either.

I like WB with all its warts. Many of you think AH is *better* but that is irrelevant to me. It's all opinion anyway. AH isn't perfect, WB isn't perfect. I have faith that WB III will force AH to take another leap. At that point I promise not to come back and bash old, out-dated AH.

P.S, Lynx, you will not be charged $24.95 unless you switch to the unlimited plan. Technically I could stay signed up for the platinum plan and be charged $150 a month like normal. *cackle* I assume that you have the $9.95 plan and that won't change unless *you* change it. Like I posted above, with the $9.95 plan you will still only be charged by the hour. Really a great deal for those that fly limited hours per month.
