Saitek Evo Issues
« Reply #15 on: May 23, 2004, 06:25:53 PM »
Pellick I went through 3 Cyborgs in about 2 years. It seems to do a lot better with non XP OS's. I never had much of a problem with any of them other than their' shelf life is good for about 9 months.
Then again, for $35...it's hard to get upset. Very few folks seem to like the throttle placement of the Evo. I just wish Saitek could iron out their age old XP drivers :(((

I tried the EVO in AH 2 and found it to be a hand full, after that I decided to beat the bushes and I was able to locate a new MS Sidewinder Pro II USB . I brought it home , put the EVO in back  the box and never looked back 1 .
To answer your question , IMO AH 2 FM is different and the planes fly way different . I do not think that your joystick has squat to do with what you are seeing and feeling  in AH2 ! .

I hope this helps ....also you would do way better asking others that have used the EVO for more  time than me  (just a few days)  .... They can give you a much better answer than I can .

Using an EVO.  The Saitek profiler settings do not seem to pass through to AHII.  Nor have I been able to get an button functions to work in the AHII stick map setup.

Any1 care to share their stick mappings or profiler settings?

2Slow I've never had much luck with the Saitek software. Rather I do all mapping via the AH stickmapping feature within the game.

My stick scale cfg is available if you'd like, drop an e-mail to topchef52@adelphia.net

Good luck,

The Saitek forums have had a few discussions on Evo "drifting."  I haven't had any problems with the calibration, but they had mentioned a possible fix.  One option that worked for some was to invert the axes twice.  Another option was to get this:  DXTweak.

It helps you alter various settings for USB input devices.

This is from one of the Saitek support dudes on Evo "drifting":

Quote
The stick should be self-calibrating so moving it through its full range of movement should correct any mis-calibration that is present.

If it doesn't then do the following:

Unplug the controller, click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput

And delete the VID_06A3&PID_0464 folder. Plug the controller back in, rotate and twist the stick fully a couple of times and that should have fixed it.

My only complaint about Evo is where the damn gas is Cyborb.  It was on the sides up front where its needed.  I lose alot of fights because of this.

Heh yeah, the throttle position more or less sucks arse.

DMax, sorry, here's a link the forum.  Unforuntately, you can't view the Cyborg Evo or joysticks general section until you're registered and approved.  It took me a day or two for approval.

Support replies to threads relatively fast, too.

Can you pass on the utility?  I could use it also.

Thanks

i also have to calibrate my stick each time i log in. this is my second evo first lasting about 5 months (glad i  got the 2 year warrenty) one of the buttons stuck. first and second evo both require calibration upon launch of AH. it dont matter if i calibrate in windows before game launch. once i calibrate it in AH its good to go the rest of the night.

i have noticed when i log in and dont calibrate the stick feels really sloppy and loose.

other than the calibration issue its a sweet stick and i like it alot:aok

whatever ya do DONT go get a logitech extreme 3d pro :)
this stick will last ya a month...then its back to wally world to exchange for another POS 3d pro...rinse and repeat:rolleyes:

DMAX:   I never installed the drivers that came with the joystick.
Win XP popped a message up stating it didn't recommend
installing drivers for that device.  Apparently I'm only using the
ones that came with the service pack.  After my post about having
a prob with the nose-bounce on the evo, someone sent me their stick.cfg it virtually elliminated the bounce.  Haven't had time
to battle test it, but offline use seemed a lot smoother.
