Saitek Evo Issues
« on: May 09, 2004, 10:19:07 AM »
Like just about all other Saitek sticks, this one has some odd quirks. I find it to need almost constant calibration - especially upon launch of AH. I also find that it tends to deviate from the scaling I have set in AH. I'm using the latest XP drivers but have not installed the SST programming software, rather I've programmed the stick in AH j-stick set-up. Are the problems common to the EVO, or do I have a redheaded stepchild??

Thanks~

Have been using Sailtek Cyborg evo for about two months, no problems as of yet..........smoother control, better positioned buttons and nice adjustable handgrip.  Used Logitech 3D Pro before, I will never go back.

Found if you move the stick around all axis before taking off it will fix any calibration issues. It can be done in the air, but only if you're good at coming out of stalls :)

XP Home here Max.

Have you gone through the calibration in windows, as well as the Calibration in AH?

I used to use a logitech stick and am now just in the habit of calibrating everytime I launch AH. Although I have not noticed any problems with this stick, I do calibrate it every time I launch the game.

Cheers,

Hmmmm....XP Home here as well.

The latest Evo drivers preculde the ability of calibrating the stick in Windows CP's. Saitek support did point me to a utility which allows deadband tweaking...the preset is set at about 6% for both X & Y axes. That's helped a bit. I suppose I'll just make a habit of calibrating the stick within the game upon arrival.

Thanks guys ~

In order to gain longer flight deck space on a CV, the ship must be headed into the wind, eg, not turning. You want to gently increase RPM's to 2300 - 2500. Once you begin a backward roll, keep an eye on your 6 so as not to roll off the back of the deck.

My MS Precision Pro USB finally got so sloppy that I decided to replace it . Bought a Logitech 3D pro .... 10 minutes later it was back inthe box and returned to the store .  Yesterday I decided to try a Saitek Cyborg EVO . I like it .... It is gona take me a long time to adjust to it after over 8 years using MS Joysticks .

I also find that I have to calibrate it in Windows and then in ( Offline ) game before entering online game ....

Checkers could you please do me a favor? Have you flown AH2 yet? My Evo seems to require much more calibrtion, and feels a lot more loose/twitchy in AH2 vs AH1. Do you get the same impression? I know the flight models are different in AH2 so I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is from the new FM or stick spiking.

Thanks ~ DmdMax

I use a saitek cyborg 3d usb stick. It works like a charm. I havn't calibrated in maybe 4 months, nor do I feel that I need to. The older cyborg has two or so buttons lessthen the EVO, but much better throttle placement IMO. You can find em now for as little as $10 if you look around.
