I wonder how much Denver's love of weed coupled with short term memory loss had to play in this?

PROBABLE CAUSE
The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause of this accident was the pilot's diversion of attention from the operation of the airplane and his inadvertent application of right rudder that resulted in the loss of airplane control while attempting to manipulate the fuel selector handle. Also, the Board determines that the pilot's inadequate preflight planning and preparations, specifically his failure to refuel the airplane, was causal.

In the Long EZ, the fuel selector switch was located behind the pilot's head.  In order to switch tanks, the pilot would have to look up and behind him to his left.  If you've ever tried this in a car, you'll find that you begin to put pressure on either the brake or the throttle (usually the throttle).  I believe this is what the FAA is trying to say in their report - that he was looking back to his left and trying to turn the knob with his right hand and put pressure on his right foot (right rudder pedal) which caused the spin.

He should've checked his tanks and made sure he had the proper one selected before he launched.

And this is one ugly scheme.

Was probably big in the '70s, though.  And judging by the selection of women's swimsuits this season, it looks like the '70s schemes are coming back.

Actually, I blame his teachers, any drug habit he had, his liberal views, lack of a BMW, and non-carpeted garage.  That is what I got from Rip's post.

allmost all weakness, liberalism and consequent democratic party membership has been linked to having poor math teachers in the students early years.

Too much. Captain Cut n paste does another mindless drive by. If he would have  batted .900 as a child in little league, he wouldn't have crashed. Bad parenting caused it.

That is a nicely equiped plane. I bet the maintanance was top notch as well while John owned it. He must have put the casette player in it. I like how something that would not even rate a mention in an auto classifield ad (very old car cassette deck) gets a special mention and its own picture in an aircraft ad. It just shows how anything in an aircraft costs 10 times what it is worth.

Funny how entertainers always get hosed when they buy things. Imagine what that paint job cost. It must have 7 different colours in it. And the final result is something that dose not even look like it is painted in the right direction. Unless it is a special native American motif dealing with eagles I cannot see the relavance of the design to anything that flys.

Nice plane though.

I don't like the base color (I hate tan), but the striping is kinda cool.
