Bf109F-4: Marseilles, Stigler and Trauloft
« on: May 09, 2004, 09:15:40 PM »
Working on three Bf109F-4 skins.

The Bf109F-4 of Hannes Trauloft was converted from the ol' G-10 skin I made earlier on. Stigler and Marseilles's Bf109F-4/Trops were pretty much easy to do, as both of them were in JG27 with simular schemes. Stigler was in 3./JG27, and Marseilles was in 4./JG27(or was it the other way around??)

Marseilles F-4 depicted here is one of his early planes, when he had only 50 kills or so. I've chosen this one since the other "Gelbe 14" is so famous and so abundantly portrayed, that it gets a lil' dull looking at it again ;)

 ....

Of the two, I think only one can be submitted, since they are fairly simular. Ofcourse, it'd be good if both of them are accepted, but if I should only submit one, which F-4/Trop would you guys prefer?

The Weiss 12 or the Gelbe 14? :)

WTG :)

Gelbe 14 is my vote....

I did an F4 myself and am working on another. III./JG 2 and am doing a JG 53 F-4....

I reduced the size of the fuel fill cap on the rleft side under the canopy and did the same with the fuel decal because it mirrored on the right.

Did you catch the underside left wing balkenkreuz doesnt mirror fully on the F4.

They left it out on the default skin as well

put balkenkreuz here

Definitely the desert scheme, either in F4 or G2 variant.

Thanks for the heads-up Batz!

As the bug is something that effects even the default scheme, I'm expecting it to be fixed pretty much immediately in the next patch. ;)

 ...

Also, anyone have any data on LW pilot gear of the Afrika Korps? (I don't think the short pants and short sleeved ones could do well with the current pilot model.. so preferably a long pants/long sleeved  one ;) )

Also, anyone got a pic of Mr. Franz Stiglr when he was young!? :)

Once again beautiful skins Kweassa! :)

Yeah, it's a hard decision. Before I would have said Marseille in a heart beat. But ,unlike Marseille, Mr. Stiegler is still with us. It would be nice to honor this nice gentleman with his personal plane...even if he never sees it in AH.

What I meant to say is...can we have both. :D

P.S Damn it would be nice if the spinner could be skinned...

Do Marseilles G-2 them....  Go with Stiglers F-4....
You could also do Stiglers G as well, not desert camo but RVT.

UPDATE:

Work on the Yellow 14 is finished. Working on Stigler's F-4, and North African pilot gear now. I thought I'd have a spot of fun with the pics, so I've created an imaginary "archive photo" of the Yellow 14. :)

He is 88, and has a persistent infection in his lung which has required him to be committed to hospital in Vancouver British Columbia Canada, where he lives now. He is undergoing a long series of anti-biotic treatments in the hospital. Of course this is very tiring and depressing to have to go through this and stay in the hospital enviroment.

He would be happy to receive cards and greetings from those who respect his deeds and actions during the War.

The address is:

Franz Stigler

Is that a crewmember getting in wearing shorts or the pilot ?

Curious

Great Skins btw - keep up the good work.

No, that's Marseilles himself.

Interesting . .

I will have to ask Earl - a resident WWII P39 / P47 pilot if he ever wore shorts while in combat ?

Not sure where he flew if it was HOT enuff for shorts. Maybe he knows if other pilots in other theatres of Operations did ?

Thanks !
