When the world ends, Grun is gonna be my point man once we set out to make it to Montana via the Naches trail , thru southern WA and southern Idaho, into SW Montana at my mountain retreat.  That is, if he's in town that day... ;)

Come now rip... You might as well tell the porchlight story.  It's not an obsession, like... say... always insisting people are obsessed with you.  It's just a classic example of people (or a person) sitting back worrying about the end of the world.

actually I don't see preparing to be a bit self-sufficient in the case of a disaster (natural or otherwise) to be odd at all.

not much difference in my mind between setting aside some food, water, fuel, protection  and setting aside a savings account for hard times.  the only difference I see is the first example plans for harder times than the second.

Exactly.  Someone understands. ;)  Did I mention my wife is a Disaster Coordinator for all Harbor View nurses (Level 1 Trauma center in Seattle) ?  That has alittle to do with it...;)

Actually capt... I wouldn't either.  But that's not really what the porchlight story was about.  Rip could clarify, but he won't because the story makes him look like a raving lunatic.  It was wonderful of him to share it with us.

I used to prepare for hurricanes.

And then I decided I'd rather use the space to store scale models.  A 12-pack of water gets replenished every week or so, we have a radio, a bunch of flashlights, Powerbars and cereal; that's about all we need.  30 days worth of supplies is a bit extreme.  Its also a lot of space.

So i wonder what it would be like.

If things get so bad that people quict there jobs  to flee to the mountains for cover.. as to avoid a tidal wave of water from a metor... or whatever...

what would it be like.

Cops would be no more.. Major Anarchy would take over.
People would pick up arms to fend off anyone.
Power plants would quit opperating..

I mean for a time this world be a place less loved to be in..

What kind of theories do you guys have about the future of the world in these kind of situations.

Who's going to tell him not all movies are real?

:rofl

From what I recall, I posted that I have a generator and during a couple of power outages, I left my porch light on to "nanner nanner" the unprepared neighbors that live out here in the foothills...then the discussion turned to prepareness, and the rest, as they say, it left to twisted dialogue.

Edit: Here is the thread...oh Cod help me ;)

Very true. My last rotation (9/11/2003) I rotated 2 weeks back into consumption, so I have roughly 2 weeks of emergency food and water. I had two full shelves, but I've since reduced to one.
