Starting this war has showed to be a dumb move.

Maybe the nations that some time ago you (in general) decided to label as "terrorists lovers", "cowards", were'nt so wrong by telling your government to not start it.

But now it's too late.

It wouldn't be so hard really. It would mainly take a "willingness" to do it. I read  somthing awhile ago dont know for sure if it's true: At one point in time the KGB sent a clear message to all terrorist groups: attack us and we shall come for yur wives, mothers, fathers, children, neighbors, everyone you care about before we come get you.
Like i said i don't know if it's true but, back in the day you didn't hear about terrorists from outside the soviet union starting any crap with em.

Give em a taste of their own medicine then see if they still have the stomache for being terrorists
Crap now I gotta redo my cool sig.....crap!!! I cant remeber how to do it all !!!!!

so, for all of you guys who think we should deal with this giving them back their own treatment.

what would be our point in being there?  the excuse of the day for this war is that we had to remove Saddam's cruel, sadistic rule, that had no freedom, basic human rights or justice for the Iraqi people.  (that is the latest excuse isn't it.  I mean we aren't there to enforce the UN resolution because the UN didn't want us to go, the WMD thing turned out to be a big bust, and the link between Iraq and 9-11 hasn't been found and the last I heard the pentagon said there was no real evidence that there was ever a link).

so as I understand it the current reason we are there is to replace the evil Saddam, right? or is there a new one?

so if we go over there and do as some of you are saying, and lower our selves to their standards.  if we eliminate with extreme prejudice anyone who isn't on-board with what we have planed for Iraq, and do so in the cruelest and intimidating way possible, whats the point?  I mean if we are just going to go take Saddam out and then continue to rule the country the way he did, well that just seems kinda pointless, and we just sent our guys off to die for no good reason other than to allow us to drain our treasury into Iraq.

some of you may have missed this lesson as a kid, so I'll catch you up.  you have certain standards of behavior for yourself, and for how you treat others.  you follow these standards not because the others deserve it, but because of who you are, and who you'll become if you abandon your standards.

That way lies madness. I would rather I and my family died a thousand times at the hand of terrorists than my country carry out unjust and unlawful acts against any innocent. I would also doubt if I lived in any kind of mraningful society any more.

You know I think this thread was supposed to be  tribute to the deceased.

But right now the world, like the posters here, argue over his grave.

So lets put aside this for now and remember the victim and his family and say a prayer for them.

Our Father who art in Heaven
Hallowed by Thy Name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy Will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespass
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, the Glory, forever

That was a horrible and unhuman act of the coward terrorists.
It made me sick when I saw it on the news (thank god they did not show the whole video) but it was enough for me. It still pops up in my head today, and I wonder how rotten this people are.

I hope his family, has been told not to watch the news, It is more than parents can take seeing a video like that.

Worst thing is prolly more of it coming the next weeks/months.

Mr. Berg

One of many, but nevertheless one the cruelestly killed.
He wasn't even a soldier was he? He must've been the first american they could get...

I read it was a payback of the inhumanities in the Iraqy prisons or something

Yeah, your right. And we should have told the Brits and French to ignore the Germany/Poland thingie in 1939, too. Too late now, I guess.

As to those who suggest we "become our enemy"........

Think about it.

I can't believe I'm even reading that stuff.

That way lies the end of the world.

Yes, because this is the first time an American civilian has been brutally murdered in front of a camera... 'retaliation' my ass.  Just something different to say after you hold the severed head up.

RIP Mr. Berg... and especially his parents, who will experience this pain far longer than the victim did.
