for example
20mm- yellow
40mm- white\blue
0.5- red

Seems like it would look a bit arcadish.  I'd like to see tracers the same color and speed as real life.  The footage of the skies of Baghdad comes to mind as an interesting demonstration of what it really looked like (but of course not green, which was the nightvision most of us saw).

I've seen an old AW guy say they could choose the color of their tracers.

Yes we could change the colour in AW, but quite honestly it was only necessary because the tracers used to be little dashed lines, and changing the colours helped some people to see them better.  However, with the tracers we have here, changing the colours for visibility isn't necessary and yes, would I think be gamey.

I've recently stopped using tracers in AH1 anyway.  :)

I'd stick with the current yellowish/orange tracers. I mean...blue tracers??? Next thing we do is asking for lasers!!

Blue tracers were used.  So were green and red, quite commonly.  I guess real life is more "arcadish" than the video game.

Depends on how they're rendered.

The more crappy the rendering, the more Star Wars it looks like.

On the other hand, FB/AEP does an excellent job at rendering.

Real liquid/vapor trails aren't sprites.
Tracers being the wrong color is stranger than being the wrong shape by a pixel or two.

Frank, either MG151/20 or MK108 were blue, and they were common in WWII as you could imagine.

and if I had a choice to see which tracers were mine amidst a furball, I'd take it.

We only have Ack Ack guns in the 20mm and 30mm types, and the 37mm manable ack guns that NEED tracers anyway.
