Country Channel Politics
« on: May 13, 2004, 10:54:46 AM »
We have the option to squelch channel 1, but political arguments are now invading the country channels and we can't squelch our own country channel.

We can choose to not read the O'club on the BB just like we can turn our TV sets off, but reading the country text buffer is an integral part of the game. Squelching so many people individually seems like an unfair burden placed on those of us who play AH to get away from the news and daily nonsense of the world.

Please just leave us alone to enjoy the game by keep your political, religious and racial rants to yourself, or at least off the country channel. Please... I don't think it's an unreasonable request.

AH is a game and you're taking the fun out of it. You also aren't changing anyone else's mind about anything anyway... :)

I too have given this some thought lately, and have an idea. Just like in the game, we need to wing up when it comes to controlling useless and bothersome banter. What I mean is , when someone  askes another person to stop talking up the channel, we should back them up.

It works a lot better when more than one person lets the talker know that the chatter is interupting the game for others. I know that from now on I'm gunna do that, cause it's just starting to get outta hand, and we gott nip it in the bud.

Just my 2c.

we had a class act on two weeks ago . Little skin head was talking trash and calling people Jew ( as though somehow that was insulting).

I tell ya the boy was a typing, knuckle dragging example of why abortions ought to be allowed.:(

Voxed him to shut it. But my point - and I do have one - everyone should get one of those airhorns in a can you see at hockey games. When someone starts using the country channel for forwarding the abominations they think are good ideas, simply tune vox to their channel, hold the squawk button down and let fly with a blast from the ol' airhorn. :D

Now you head set users I suggest you take yours off lest the offending noise also deafens you.;)

my two pence worth:aok

The senior citizens of the game need something to do is all.

They've already been kicked out of most of the local coffee shops so they reside on Ch2 to talk about worldly affairs.

Give them a break! They are smelly old geezers trying to fit in!:D

I dont care either way really.  I play the game to do just that. play a game.  If you wanna chat easiest soloution would be go back to the chat room that you normally dwell at would it not?

Yeah...some well know rook was spouting his political views and he was told to take it to channel 1, so if we didn't want to hear it we could squelch 1 and still work as a country, his reply was blah blah blah it's my 14.95 a month and if I want to talk politics on country channel then I will.
I don't know about you guys, but I use gaming as an escape from reality.  I know whats going on in the world, and I have my own opinion about it.  I don't really want to listen to someone who has no other forum to vent.
It's my 14.95 a month and I want to have fun.

Well you have two choices:

1. Dont Read It.

2. Squelch the guy who is talking.
