Penalty for death?

One thing that is unrealistic in any online sim is that people do not fear getting shot down and because of this, take unrealistic risks.

Perhaps a penalty for death needs to be added so the fear of dieing is somewhat realistic?

I realise most people will not go for it, but I personally think it would make things more interesting.

Perhaps, for every death you loose .5 kills on your record?

How about. you can't fly again until you get up and vacuum the house or do the dishes. It'd make the wife happy and I'd have the cleanest house on the block...

Igloo;

(Igloo... eskimo... he he.)

There are those who care about score, and those who don't.  Nothing that is done to the score system will effect those who just don't care about it.

I am sympathetic towards both attitudes.  I used to be the ultimate score monger, now I could absolutly care less.

Igloo,

Take the high moral ground here and lead by example. Next time you die, stop playing for a month. That will encourage all other players to follow your lead......... NOT!

Or you can try this..... Just play your game and let others play theirs. Kinda like paying attention to yourself and leaving others alone. Unless of course you are going to pay their $30.00 a month, then you'd be justified in telling them how to play.

A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

DAMN!   If ya took away 1/2 of a kill whenever I got shotdown, I'd have a negative score!!!!!!

Wait!!

Cool!!

I'm not trying to impose what I think should be done on others.  But if this is a simulation, then should not the main aspect of being a WWII pilot be modeled?

Remember, I said "personally...".  I also asked for your opinion.  Don't get your panties in a bunch over nothing.  I was only asking for your opinion.

From a personal control point of view a friend of mine was flying WB until he was killed. Bails and ditches didn't count but if he died - that was his helping of WB for the evening. He said his SA and "think before diving into a furball" skyrocketed in a very short time .

Enable uberplanes at main fields only.  If you land one, you get to rearm and refuel at any friendly field.  If you die, you have to use a non-uber plane, or go back to the main field to get your uber ride.

Rewards flying to live.

No big penalty for dying.

Makes capture of main fields more difficult.

Reduces numbers of uberplanes.

ps.  Deciding WHICH plane are uber is another topic.

No panties in a wad here to be sure. But there ARE ways for you to satisfy your need for what it is you want.
But have you joined or tried Sabre's "TOD"? Will you be signing up for the upcoming "Afrika Corps" scenario?

How about the Mediteranean League that Busc and Zigrat have been working up?

The main aspect of being a WW2 pilot was carrying out the mission.

How about if you have to have a negative kill rate in order to qualify for one of the future perk planes?

Igloo..

You must be one of the milk run field capture guys, would seem to me that your idea only suits guys who want to capture fields. So when the guys get vultched coming up to defend cant reup for( 10mins-30mins) makes it easy to capture fields.

With your idea,at midnight when only 20 or so guys are on,they could capture the whole map? Because field defenders cant come up..

Sorry, i have a limited time to fly at night, usually 1 hour a night. I wana kill and i wana kill now.

With the old beta terrian up we are have much better furballs with fields being so close. I dont go over 15k so the 109 drivers at 30k have no choice but to come down and die

Dog out...

Lose .5 kills per death = MORE runners, less fights, less entertainment in the MA

Scenarios are the only place to keep a penalty for death (no spawn)
