I know Lada, I posted in that thread.
But the sources that you posted couldn't even agree with one another in most of the details for the Yak-9U.
For the record, I'm pretty sure that MP-20
IS the ShVAK 20 MM cannon (like refering to the .50 as an "M2") But the big difference between the Yak-9U and Yak-9D is performance. The D is much more comparable to the T that we have than the U, the U is much faster at all alts than the D, although I would expect the D to have longer range.
But this is all academic, the problem with the sources (websites) that you cited, is that they don't mention where
they got their information.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see drop tanks on the Yak (The Yaks are almost all I fly in the MA), but it will never happen without some primary sources, and even then it's a 50/50 chance that the information will be compelling enough for a model change. The Aircraft and Vehicle's forum is littered with posts from people trying to get changes, with varying degrees of documentation, and varying degrees of success.
