The Coolness of AH2....
« on: May 15, 2004, 08:06:24 AM »
Guys...some great stuff is now live in AH2...and so far...it's great!

Now, I'm not sure about this, but I thought I read that CVs now burn when hit.

I tried to test it last night but the CV went to the bottom with one 500lb bomb....(bug).

Then I Straffed the destroyers!!! Get this...I knocked out 2 gun positions on one destroyer!!!

Totally F***** Cool!!!!

And this is the stuff I did in the first 30 minutes!!!!

Do yourself a favor, check it out.

EEEEEEEEEk !!! anouther Del demension ..... thats 2 in one day LOL.

Yea Run out and get yourself a good 128mb or better card

FX5200   is the cheap card 50-70
the FX 5600  or 5700  are 100-150

the ATI 9600 / pro are 120-150

You could get away with a 40-45 dollar GF 4 mx 440 but thats really not much improvement  and will cause more of a bottleneck .

Its coming along fast and its great to see 50 up during the day in there.

Going to be tougher to sneak fields now.
A lanc  formation with perfect aim was quite a bit short of being able to kill all the city.

I think it will take a minimum of about 10 loaded F6f's to cap & kill one.

No more slip in a single A20, tiffy, 110 to knock it all down & wait for the troops.

I wonder how this will affect the gameplay? I hope and think it will be better, but I'm a little scared it will promote hordes.

Jet,
Have you upgraded your version of Direct X to DirectX9??

I ran AH2 on my parts box yesterday
CPU:  AMD 1.1ghz
RAM: 196mb
Sound:  onboard
Video:  Gforce devasator 32mb

It worked fine and I was getting Frames around 45-55 fps.

DX 9 is required,  and adding a stick of RAM and a better Video Card will help alot.

Looks like it has not AGP slot so you may have to buy a PCI craphics adapter.

For example this: http://www.pny.com/products/verto/geForceFx/5200pci.asp

I dont have a glue where to buy things in USA but here is something...

Yeah some of the new damage modelling and effects are really nice, I hit a P47 yesterday in the forward fuselodge, a decent hit with my .50 cals and I started him smoking.  I passed him looped up and over and came down on again, as I passed him the second time I saw that I had set his engine on fire.  I'd never seen a P47 burn for any reason prior to this. :)

I still have a couple issues with AH2 but I must say I'm pretty excited about seeing what the future has in store.

Jet-
Fry's has pretty good deals every week.  I purchased my vid card there when my other card fried.  If you get the paper they always have specials in there.  But first check to see if your running DirectX9.

Jet,

To check your version of DirectX

Hit the Start Button,  and click Run

Type (  dxdiag  ) in the Run box and hit enter

This will bring up a window with alot of information.  It will tell you your basic system info,  but It will also tell you your version of DirectX .    Anything less than 9 and you will need to get an update.
