...for an F4U-1C. Killed 3 B17's, 4 B26's (with a P51 and 190 thrown in) in two sorties late last night. Never was scratched until the end of the second sortie; was out of gas (long chase on the previous B26), spotted a B26 and an F4U escort, and dove for enough speed to zoom into the B26 guts. Got him, but that left me hanging vertical on the string, ripe for the escort. He blew off my tail, and I started a long backward descent to earth. A friend got him a moment later.

I don't know how I feel about the 1C now... that was definitely too easy. As another person said "it can make an enemy poop a hefty weinerscnitzel" (paraphrased).

dinnae dolo, I've survived plenty of -1Cs.  Been a few sorties in me 17 where I survived 3 or 4 -1Cs in a row, taking them all out (then have a pony or spit get me cause I'm outta ammo)

800 yds. Yup, it hurts my gunnery, but when the rounds start to land they really pile up hurt in a hurry.

Cave, you are no doubt tough in the B17!

I was one of the victims and all I can say is "good job". Saw lots of pings on you on my FE but obviously I didn't do much hurt.

Tactics is key. Mine were in error <g>..I was too low. The time is past when buffs could operate unmolested at 25K and the heavily armed fighters seem to be doing better at that alt.

Dolo did a great job diving and zooming on me, keeping me jumping around in the guns. His tactics were great.

I think I'm going to start flying at max alt and see if that cuts down on the ability of the fighterst to maneuver.
