Though, I guess it's a bit ironic that being smart entails ripping a bunch of stuff off the vehicle you paid for.

Not the issue, my confused friend. :) I'm replacing stuff so I can extend the capability of the vehicle. Our subject has been replacing stuff to change the way the vehicle looks at the cost of losing capability. The guy spent thousands of dollars extra for the four-wheel drive and then rendered it useless.

My concept has always been that they spent, what half a billion on engineering the suspension geometry?  Why would I want to dick with that?

As for adding roll bars, real brush guards, skid plates, etc, that makes sense.

Sandy
Is yours the supercharged one? My brother in laws is, seems pretty quick for a truck.

If I trade in my truck it is still going to be on a Jeep rubicon though lol.

No supercharger. That wasn't an option in 2000. IIRC, that didn't come about until 2003.

FWIW, the supercharger is really a response to the complaints about available power while driving on the road. Offroad, there's little benefit to having it.

Yeah, I can see that, it may be a detriment even if it impacts low end torque, still a cool feature for the Xterras

I love mine.  I have a V6, locking rear differential and a stick.  In 4wheel and 1st gear, you hardly have to clutch it, no matter how tough the terrain.

Oh... and I must add... Nissan does not sell a 4x2 Xterra in Canada. Our boy isn't necessarily as silly as he would be if he were American. :)
